| Second Bile Acid Test today for Cookie My vet , who is a wonderful & very caring woman by the way. Requested a second Bile Acid test for Cookie . She knows something is wrong but is trying to pinpoint the problem. His first results were really weird. His fasting results were actually much too high and after being fed his results were normal. This led her to think that the lab tested the blood samples in reverse. She called me yesterday and told me to bring him in this morning and there would be no charge to me. This was $85 lab test. I was so relieved because I would have probably had to wait for another week to pay it. He's at the vet right now. The girls there take good care of him. He was so nervous and shaking sitting on the girl's lap while I slipped out of the clinic door. I should be getting his results by Thursday/Friday. If the Acid results are still over 100 then I will have to take him in for surgery to search for a Liver Shunt . If they do find one ,they will repair then. IF they don't find one then they will get a liver biopsy so they can verify if he has Microvascular Dysplasia . I rather it be Dysplasia because they will put him on a special diet for the rest of his life. He has not had any seizures ever . Which is a good sign my vet said. The only thing that I think about now is that he's always been very laid back, quiet. He naps a lot during the day. He's been like that since I first got him as a baby. He's very playful and demands to play fetch at least 2 times a day. He brings me his little fleece soccer ball and taps me on the foot with it and lets me know it's playtime. I will post an update as soon as I get his second results. Genie |

| Back from Surgeon We're back. I left by 9 am and the appointment was at 11:30 am . The trip was suppose to be around 1 hr and 45 min. Once I got off the Turnpike I got lost! After calling the hospital 3 times I found the Hospital and walked in at 11:26 am just in time. We saw the surgeon who told me our options. Since he already had two Bile Acid tests and both were high ,he told me Cookie should have the surgery to look for a shunt. I asked about Ultrasounds and other tests that might find the shunt. He confirmed what two other vets told me. They are not great for finding shunts. If they dont find a shunt with an ultrasound it doesn't mean that he doesnt have a shunt and they would still do surgery to look for it and get a biopsy. Since he does not have the severe symptoms yet the vet told me his recovery should go well. The only sympton is looking tired and sleeping too much. He told me that dogs with liver problems do not have lots of energy and sleep a lot. So I scheduled his surgery ASAP . He goes in for surgery Tuesday morning at 9 am. Pray for us on Tuesday. My hubby is going to try and take us Tuesday morning. If he wakes up well he will be discharged on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Please Cookie in your prayers on Tuesday. I know I wont be able to sleep Tuesday night. I'm so used to him sleeping on my back or on my legs Genie |

| Thinking of you. Genie- You both will be in my thoughts. Dr. Moore will take good care of Cookie. And then Cookie will be home and good as new, just like Matise! I know Tues. nite will be a long nite but you know what- they are a 24/7 365 hospital so you can call a million times to check on him. I called like every 4 hours!! The nurses and everyone are so nice and accomadating so do it if it will make you feel better I did! Good luck and call me for anything even if it is just to blabber about whatever to keep your mind busy. Take care.
