| Off lead, brilliant recall I just wanted to share with you, what a wonderful walk we had yesterday and today in the forest with Alfie (yorkie) and our 2 German Shepherds. We were walking with our other dog friends and there was a pack of 7 including ours. Alfie was so upset that the others were off lead and so I took the plunge and let him off and as expected he didn't leave the German Shepherds' sides unless I called him and he immediately came running back. I was of course very vigilant and I kept putting him back on the lead and then let him off again. It was just so wonderful to see him running around with the other dogs, all bigger than him. Alfie isn't quite 7 months yet and he has brought so much happiness into my life, our lives.

Thor's Human Donating Member | That's great! Good job you two. Thor has great recall (unless he smells a stale oreo in the grass, which apparently affects his hearing). He's not good at playing with other dogs, though.

Alfie seems to love all dogs, he says 'hello' by licking them. He loves all people too. I suppose having the Germans Shepherds he has had to get on with them.

| Awesome!! Great job! Jackson will usually listen to me but recall is still something we're working on. I hope to one day soon be able to trust him more off leash.

| Just last week I had the same experience and was coaxed by other dog owners to let Ginger free! One owner said to me, "You will never know if she is really your dog until you walk with her off lead." He was right, the thrill was awesome. Ginger ran and played with the other large dogs but always looked back to see where I was. I would call her and she would fly back to me for praise! Truly, it was one of the best moments I have had! Of course, where we were was safe for Ginger or I would not have tried this. Try it, you won't be sorry! |

| I let my babies off lead and never had them not listen! Sometimes Zach gets into smelling the flowers or bushes and I need to say his name a few times but he always comes running! Lola is the best off lead. She listens so well, you just need to say LOLA and shes right at your side!! Now my bull terrier is another story |

Thor's Human Donating Member | I'm sure Thor would LOVE to come across a stale cow patty! Poor guy, he's not likely to find one in the city. He has to settle for horse poop here. It is really great to let Thor off lead, and to see how his confidence has grown. He's naturally somewhat timid, so he's usually more than happy to return to me. At first he would only go a few feet. Now he'll run all the way across the park, but yes, he always turns back and looks to see if I want him to come back again. It's really thrilling to see him race back to me with 100% joy and enthusiasm. Because he loves me so much. Or because he gets a chicken treat. I choose to think it's because he loves me.

| I only let George off his lead when he's with my daughters dogs, hers have great recall and George sticks with them but I'm not brave enough to let George off when he's by himself, but isn't it lovely to see them running free

I'm so pleased you did it too. It really is an amazing feeling, watching them run and be so happy and come back to see where you are and come back when called. x
