| Is it a sad thing or happy one? I went againt the rule let Duncan go leash free on a hill in a park. He was so happy leading us, jumping and sniffing around. however after a little bit, i noticed, even though he's off leash, he's not walking around totally freely, he's only walking on the trail....

| Yeah, it's safer to have them always leashed, but Uni is more alert and listens better when she is off leash in a familiar area. In an unfamiliar area I would not try to take her off leash. Also if there are kids in the distance, I would not take her off leash. She loves kids and would run to them. Ok, so maybe she is not better off leash. Oh sigh.

| it's sad enough for me... my point was even duncan is off leash, he was only walking on trail, instead of running all around the hill. if i was a dog, off leash, i wont care to step off the trail, onto the grass and run and roll. i wont even have the concept of "trail"... Quote:
