| I hate loving her so much Just a few minutes ago Brandi started choking while eating her dinner. Of course I panicked and but I did manage to stick my finger down her mouth to get a little piece of food that was stuck. She's okay now but boy am I angry. I'm not angry because of her choking but because I love her so much....weird huh? When she was choking all I could think was I can't loose my baby. I don't have any kids and my furbabies is all I have. After I was sure she was okay.....I looked at her and said "I hate that I love you so much". She just ran to me and started licking me. So I just picked her up and just kissed and hugged so much she could of burst. |

| I'm so glad your baby is ok! I know what you mean - my hubby and I weren't blessed with children, so Rio is our baby and she is our world. I get so scared sometimes with the thought of ever losing her. She makes my heart smile. |

| Very glad it turned out good, and that you reacted so fast. Some people would panic. I was at a restaurant last year and the table next to us had 10 people. One lady stood up and started choking...no one moved, they all just sat there and looked. My wife and I almost collided heads as we both got up to help her. Love them as much as you want, the more the better. They cause a lot less pain and heartache than a child can, and they love you unconditionally. |

| To be so small they have a large impact on us emtionally. I never considered myself to maternal. But I swear both of my furbabies bring out the mother in me. Just a few days ago, I had to rush Brandi to the emergency vet at 11:00 at night because she wouldn't stop licking me. I knew something was wrong...she wasn't eating or drinking. She was trying to tell me something was wrong. It turned out she was not able to poop because of soft stool. She pooped earlier that day but not as much as she normally does. When I took her out for her last walk I noticed she was having trouble pooping. I picked her up and saw poop stuck to her butt. When I tried to clean it...it was stuck in her rectum. They cleaned her rectum and gave her an anti-biotic and some medicine for soft stool and again she is okay. I worry about her so much that my vet probably thinks I am some crazy over protected dog lady. |

| I know how you feel. I had only had Lily for about 3 weeks when she started choking. She didn't make any noise, I just happed to look in her direction and saw that she was frozen with a look of panic. I called her name and she started squealing and running around freaking out. I picked her up and saw her gums were a bluish color..I did finger sweep and she started coughing. I gave her a couple of rescue breaths too. She ended up ok, but l was a mess. Luckily, I was on the phone with my friend that is a nurse also and she helped me to stay somewhat calm. When it was over, I started crying because I realized that I was close to losing her that day. These little babies just find a way to get into your heart that you just can't explain! Thank goodness Brandi is fine now..

Totally know what you mean!!! I get made fun of a LOT for how much I love my boys, but in our group of friends, we are pretty much the only ones without kids (my husband and I, I mean). Sometimes I feel left out, but I'm also one of the only ones with dogs...and my dogs are my babies!!!

| Ruger is my first ever dog, and I don't have any kids either so I know what you mean. Just try to remember that she's a dog, and while it sounds like you are taking great care of her try not to treat her like a person. You can love her all you want, but you have to establish yourself as pack leader. That said, it sounds like you have a very lucky dog. |

| I'm glad everything worked out and your baby is ok! I would have been terrified in that situation. If anyone had told me a year ago that I would have a dog, let alone love her as much as I do, I would have told them that they were insane. I don't have any children (yet) and Roxie is my baby. I worry about her all the time, and now I don't know what I would do without her!

| I am glad your furbaby is fine!! I know exactly how you feel, I often look at my boys and tell them "you are so darn cute I can't even stand it". My DH and I have 3 children together, our youngest is still at home but is 21, working FT and going to school so we hardly see her. I got Sam right before my middle child moved out because I was feeling that empty nest syndrome. I got Harley 6 months after she actually moved out. These furbabies are my children. We spoil the heck out of them. Even my husband who use to think "dog are just dogs" and believed all dogs should be outside dogs LOVES these furbabies more than anything. I swear one just wants to be held by him and DH will actually walk around the house doing things with Harley in his hands. We were actually just talking this morning that we did not realize the impact these furbabies would have on our lives and we could not imagine our lives without them.

| Glad that your baby is fine. Everyone I know says that when they die, they want to come back as my dog. lol Hubby even gets jealous sometimes as the tells everyone they get more attention than he does--and it's true!
