| Grooming Question My Deuce is 5 months old. His face hair is wild. The hair on his top grows over his eyes and the hair on his snout grows toward his eyes. I can keep it under control when I groom him but he quickly smooshes his face and makes it a mess again. Is he ready for a topknot? Do I trim it?? I wonder if he can see. How can I handle this???? I will put a couple pics in my album since the files are too large to attach here. Thanks for your help.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | What a cutie!! He is growing into his adult coat. It's tempting to cut it at this stage but if you can stand it it's best to grow it out. As his coat grows it will lay down better. I gace up on all of mine and cut the hair by their eyes.

| On the page with all the forums, scroll down 4 sections. It's the 3rd one on the list which says Yorkie Grooming Talk. Hope that made sense...

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Your Deuce is a cutie! You can use a little hair gel to smooth the hair down over his muzzle, also use the gel to keep the short hair above his eyes, out of his eyes. If he has much hair at all above his eyes, you can do a small top knot. You can cut it, but you'll forever be cutting it as it continues to grow. You can find the grooming section from the index page.

Deuce is a cutie! Just wait it out. Unless his adult coat is cottony like my boys hair is, it should grow out really nice. Don't get clipper crazy

| The simplest way I can think of describing a cottony coat is a pup who never outgrows puppy hair. It's soft and fluffy and might even curl at times. Not all yorkies have the beautiful silky straight coats the standard calls for. I hear it mentioned a lot from breeders that the silky coat is hard to acquired. I've never heard it called a "wooly" coat before.
