I'm not sure what your level of knowledge is. But, total heat "Season" last 21 days. But, to be on the safe side you should your girl should be kept away from any males for 4 weeks. Here's the table: One week coming in - 7 days - turning pink and swellig. One week in - 7 days - Showing Color One week going out - 7 days - This is when a girl is ready to be bred. Usually she will be ready on the 10th day from showing color.....However, some girls have been able to concieve on their 16th day... Each girl is different therefore, that is why you keep your boys and girls seperated for 4 weeks.

| You could have them both done at the same time and there wouldn't be any more oooops! worries. She's so tiny and he should be neutered as well. Having both of them done will prevent future health problems as well.

| If you do not plan to breed them, you really should spay/neuter them. It's better for them and a lot less \bother for you. But for now get that girl to the vet. |

| I really hope you do take the advice and have her spayed right away! She's so small and isn't she only like 7-8 months old?

| The heat cycle lasts for at least 3 weeks and it's been my experience that the last week when most people think they are out of heat is when they are the most ready to be bred. I usually breed a girl on the 14th through the 21st day every other day. If it was your intention to not have puppies, and your girl is too small to have puppies with out potential complications, I'd get her spayed ASAP. I know there are some vets that won't do a pediatric spay but it can save so much heartache. |

| Yeah she is only 8 months old I got her about 3.5 months ago and she just finished her series of shots about 1 week ago and they would not spay her before then... I tried to make her an appointment today and they are booked until April 13th.... I have called other vets in my area and one vet recommended a mourning after shot. What is that...And is it safe |

| Get her spayed and him neutered!!! I considered breeding, but decided against it after doing a LOT of research and hearing a LOT of opinions on here. My boys have their appointments for neuters next month. I didn't think so at first, but the breeding should be done by the people who have championed their dogs - it's a TON of work, and there are so many dogs out there already that need homes, it would be terrible to be creating more puppies - because each one that you create is another one sent to slaughter. That's the reason I am getting my boys fixed, and as soon as we move into our new house in 3 weeks, we are going to get things set up to start fostering dogs!!! You should look into that if you were gonna breed, cause it will save lives, and you'll still have the fun of bringing lots of animals into your home!!!

| They were never intended for breeding just to be a part of the family and the vet would not spay her until she was UTD on her shots which she is now. |
