Senior Yorkie Talker | Does your yorkie do this? Ok so Lexi is 4 months old, but she's seriously learning! Anyways here are some stuff that she does that I want to know if it's what all yorkies do, or if there is a way I can catch her attention more etc. -loves to chase after other people she doesn't know! especially while we're walking (she wants all the attention in the world) but I would like her to follow me, not sit and wait for the stranger to pass by. There were a few times that she actually ignored some people walking by, so I'd say slight improvement. -loves the outdoors, which is great! BUT whenever I open the door she just goes crazy and is dying to go outside, she can't wait patiently. -when someone comes inside she goes crazy, she's so happy whenever someone comes home, or someone new comes that as soon as i open the door she charges to go to the person or it seems she just wants to go outside. Is this normal? how can I train her in these instances?

| She is still young. my dog gets excited when she meets new people I think that is common. I would rather have her friendly than growling or trying to bite. As for going outside I would make her sit and wait until you go out the door first that way she learns that she doesn't just bolt out the door. We had to train Daisy not to bolt out the door bc she would run off and it would take us hours to catch her. I had teenagers coming in and out of the house and Daisy seized every opportunity to bolt out the door and then it was a game of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!! That got very old after we had a scare and a spray of a skunk. So I would teach your dog now, not to bolt out the door. Good luck

| Olive loves to run up and greet anybody and everybody, even dogs and people who don't want to see her, lol. As for the running to the door, I wouldn't be much help... My door is down a flight of stairs that's gated off from my puppy. |

| Oh yes that is my little girl too! She thinks everybody she sees must pay all their attention to her and only her. When I would take her to work with me her chair was right next to mine and if I got up to get some she would whine, bark, and give me puppy eyes every time. But she has started to mellow out a bit. She is almost 8 months so I hope she continues to as she grows older so there is hope! |

| the best way to train on any problem is to take their focus off of it. for example. you dont want her "talking" to strangers. have someone walk past and have some treats with you (this is always the best way, unless they are toy fanatics). when she starts to focus on the stranger, say her name and when she acknowleges you, treat her. do this over and over for a week or so... also a great way to teach the "come" command. just a quick thought. i know it worked with my 2.. and my youngest is only 4 months (still a working progress :P)
