Senior Yorkie Talker | Scratching face? My Mindy scratches at her face a lot, particularly around her nose. There any reason she would do this? She doesn't have fleas or anything because we've got flea prevention on her. I thought maybe she was allergic to the last shampoo i was using and bought a different brand but that didn't fix it either. Maybe dry skin? I just don't want her to scratch so much that she'd scratch herself raw! Any suggestions? Thanks!

| It could be food allergies caused by yeast. Chicken and grains are big culprits for a lot of these little ones.

| She may have something stuck up her nose. One time our mixed terrier Buddy was scratching around his face and sneezing a lot. I looked with a flashlight and noticed the tip of a blade of grass. I grabbed it with tweezers and pulled it out.It was 4 inches long!

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks for the suggestions, her nose seems ok, least nothing I can see that would be bothering her. I haven't fed her any yeast or chicken so I'm not sure about that either. Sounds like its probably allergies, poor thing, allergies can really suck! She seems to do a little better after I give her a bath with oatmeal shampoo so I might do that today and see if it eases it for her at least a while. I also might be giving her some benadryl so that she can sleep without scratching every few minutes, I just feel bad for her.
