| Lucas terrier Has anyone seen a Lucas Terrier? I just saw a picture in a book I have and googled them - they look like a yorkie only bigger. It is a really rare breed. There are only about 100 in the US. I was wondering if anyone on here has one or has ever seen one? |

| Anyone ever see that show "Underdog to Wonderdog" on animal planet? Last night's episode was about a pair of dogs that got adopted together and they look just like this...I've never heard of a Lucas Terrier but they sure are cute!

I have this book on dog breeds and saw the picture. It said they are a rare breed. Well, when I googled it, I found this website: The Lucas Terrier Club of America It says there are only about 100 in the US!!! So, they are really hard to come by. They have a list of states with breeders, though and CA is on the list. They are SO cute!! I like that they come in different colors. They are companion dogs, too so they just want to please. I love my yorkie but would like it if he was a little bigger - he seems so fragile. I will def. look for a Lucas when we want another pup. | |

| Very cute but I don't think they look like a Yorke at all! Yorkies have erect ears - Lucas have bent. Yorkies have silky, long hair - Lucas have a harsh, medium coat. Yorkies are suppose to be 7 lbs and under - Lucas between 11-20 lbs. I couldn't find it on the list of breeds recognized by AKC http://www.akc.org/breeds/breeds_h.cfm I'm just wondering how they're able to say what type of temperment it has or that it doesn't get any diseases when there's only 100 in the country. Very interesting - Thanks for sharing!

YT Addict | My printer has what they thought was a tibetian Terrier but he looks a lot more like a Lucas! I will have to pass on the info, as they don't know for sure what breed he is. When I first saw their dog, he totally reminded me of Lexi with a different coat. He's all blonde and so beautiful.

| I think the face looks the same. They can have the same coloring as a yorkie, too. My yorkie has one bent ear - so I didn't even notice the ears when I was looking at them. I think they are beautiful!! There are more "across the pond" in the UK - that is where they were developed. Also, they are a non-shedding breed so I think they have hair like a yorkie. Silky with no undercoat. If you find someone that has one - ask them to check the website (The Lucas Terrier Club of America) and contact the administrator. She is trying to keep track of how many are in the US. They are not on the AKC website becasue they are not recognized by the AKC. They are a very new breed. I must have a thing for new breeds - I got really excited when I heard about the biewer, too! I can't wait until we are ready for pup number 3!! |

| You really think these look alike? They are cute and they are terriers but I really don't see where they look alike.

| I love that they aren't big barkers. They bark only to alert you that someone at the door but not for entertainment the website says. That alone would sell me! |
