| Help! Question I am thinking about purchasing a yorkie from a family. I was wondering how much more she would grow? She is 18months old & weighs 3lbs. Also, they were asking $500 so I negioated to $400, is this a good price? I am attaching a picture and welcome any insight as to wether she looks like a yorkie or a silky? I want to be sure I am getting what I truly want. Thank you so much! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Eighteen months or eighteen weeks? The price seems a little too good, I would be afraid this is a puppy mill, do you have the website? You can double the 12-week weight and you will get an approximate number give or take a pound, usually give. If weight is important to you, I suggest you get a full-grown dog. Most breeders will out and out lie about weight, or say the dog is 12 weeks when it's only 6 weeks. The pictures breeders show you are rarely the dogs you actually get. It's better to pay a little more up front and support a good breeder, who has a good guarantee.

| Take her and clip her nails. Looks Yorkie to me. Picture is not great. Should not get much bigger if 18 months old ~ but she looks younger in picture. Either way She does not look like she will be over 5 pounds. And Yes 400 is a good re-home fee for this little girl. Is she fixed yet? Last edited by MPlayman; 03-14-2010 at 02:10 PM. |

| The picture is not real clear. If she is 18 months she is done growing, if 18 weeks will probably get to around 5 pounds. The price is pretty cheap. Are they the breeders? |

| The pup in the pictures doesn't look 18 months old to me. Have you seen this dog in person? Is there a website we could look at?

| I would have to agree with the others. The puppy doesn't look eighteen months to me, but the pic isn't the best. The price is a little too good to be true, but if they are millers or byb, then. I would definitely go see the dog in person, meet the parents as well. Is she AKC? Who is the breeder?

| Not to mention the hair doesn't appear to be breaking on the saddle, but the pic may not be telling the whole story.

| My response... I have not seen her in person yet. I was going to drive there tonight or tomorrow afternoon. I have been chatting with the husband & wife. Here's what I know so far: Up to date on shots, crate trained, Akc Registered, they bought her as a family pet off of LSN from a breeder that told them that the parents were tiny also but they did not get to see them, great with kids, she is 8 months (my mistake), born on 7-11-09, shes laid back & likes to sit in lap a lot, no health problems. I asked if she knew a website for the breeder she bought her from but she did not. I am attaching another picture she sent me.... |

It's very rare (not impossible) that you can get a yorkie $400.....that's pretty much late eighties prices.

| I always refer to the top line area, to the beginning of legs as the saddles. {from my country days}....if you threw a saddle on their backs, that area would be covered, not the leg area where the tan/gold is.
