YT Addict | Does anyone here from a Yorkie-poo ? ? ? Can you show me pictures of the ones that look more Yorkie? What kind of temperament do they have? a friend is inquiring about getting one, but they want to make sure that they are getting what they paying for. (unlike my husband who paid $850 for our Yorkie Derby who doesn't look like most Yorkies and weighs in at 12 pounds now..! We're pretty sure he's a mix!) She knows it is a mix breed, but just doesn't want to get a total mutt either. The one she is looking at looks Yorkie-ish with that thick curly poodle kind of hair Just trying to get info.... Thanks

| The thing with mixed breeds is that you never know what the product will look like. I've seen yorkie poos that look totally different from one another. I suppose temperaments can vary as well. Max has the poodle coat with some yorkie coloring. He's a charcoal color with beige legs and chest. You can see his pictures on my profile. Max has the stubbornness of a yorkie and the smarts of the poodle. Not saying yorkies aren't smart but poodles tend to pick up things very quickly.

| ^ Agree. You NEVER know what you're going to get with a mixed breed. I've seen some yorkie-poo's that look all poodle, some that look all yorkie, some that have yorkie colors/poodle hair, etc. If you go to google images and type yorkie-poo, every single one looks different! LOL. You honestly can find a ton of yorkie poo's and yorkie mixes at shelters!

| Milo is my avatar, he has Yorkie coloring with more poodleish hair, he has a very sweet, smart and funny disposition. His 1/2 sister daphne same dad different poodle mom has straight black hair she looks like a mini lab (12lbs) What I would suggest though is had I had known then what I do now I would have tried really hard to rescue a yorkie poo rather than buy. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my dog, could not imagine not having him, having said that again next time I will rescue. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Tucker is a yorkie poodle mix.. he is definitly more yorkie than poodle in looks and attitude.... he looks like a blonde yorkie with floppy ears, he does have mildly crazy coat, the only curls he has in on the top of his head, but His coat is very managable, I usually keep him in a shorter cut. He has a mixed personality he is, very funny, playful, smart, stubborn, very loyal to me, and he is a great lovable lap dog. He was hard to potty train but quick to learn everything else. To me he has the best of both breeds and I would own another one. However, because they are 2 different breeds, you never know what your going to get, how big they will be,looks, coloring etc. For example...Tucker's brother looks just like a poodle and was all black, his sister (from tuck's mom/dad second litter) looks l more like chi.. with a short coat and ears that stick way out. Ive have never seen 2 yorkie poo's that look alike, I guess that what makes them like any other mixed breed.. unique..

YT Addict | Ya I know, thanks for the help everyone! If I had known then what I knew now... boy oh boy I'd be coming home with a purebred Yorkie, I'll tell you that! because after a vet check, our Derby was $1450! and the older he gets, the more he starts to look less Yorkie. I look at his puppy pics, and although he looks Yorkie~ he looks a bit different then the purebred/well bred Yorkies I've seen. Oh well, I told my husband I wanted a Yorkie and he came home with this guy! Surprise! I know my friend just doesn't want to go through what we did for a mix breed. The problem is, is that the humane society doesn't have anything she really wants, and she hasn't met any decent breeders online yet. She's got a friend-of-friend-of-a-friend type thing that's selling her a pup.

Perhaps she can look on petfinder.com and at local rescue groups. That is how I found Max and even when I was looking for Lily, I saw quite a bit of yorkie mixes, even yorkipoos. Both of my pups are rescues; the yorkipoo and the yorkie.

| Our yorkiepoo Winston is a sweetie pie. He's pretty calm like us. When we play with him he'll get excited & run around, but he's not destructive. Mostly he likes to cuddle & be petted. He's also smart & learns quickly. |

| I agree! Never know what could happen with mixed breeds. Max and Winston look more like poodle, while my Cody looks more Yorkie. (photos before haircut) |

| YorkiePoo You are right about not knowing what your YorkiePoo will end up looking like. My guy has yorkiepoo coloring but has a total poodle body. His legs are VERY long and he can jump like a horse. He reminds us of a newborn lamb!! He is very sweet, smart and playful!! Wouldn't trade him for anything!! |

| Good breeders will not breed mixed dogs if your friend really wants a mixed breed dog she should to to a shelter and adopt one they have many there who all need homes.
