| Will she grow into her length? This site is sooo AWESOME! I spend hours just reading! Phoebe went to her 16 wk ck up today. She weighs 3.4 lbs and is 8 inches long (shoulder to rear) but only 6 1/2 inches tall at the shoulder. Is this normal? Will she grow into her length? She has gained 14 oz in the 5 1/2 wks that I have had her. Is that too much? She doesn't feel overweight. In fact, she feels very fragile. The vet doesn't think she will get much bigger. Just wondering what the PROS think... |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | What she was structurely at 8 weeks...is what she'll be as an adult. How they grow comes in spurts and at different times. For example her rear legs may grow faster than her front...but eventually it all catches up. If her parents or grandparents weren't long bodied...I wouldn't expect her to be either. Weight wise...you can double her 12 week weight, plus add 1 pound and that is a close estimate of her adult weight.

| Thanks! I don't know about 8 wks but when I got her at almost 11 wks she seemed more square. She'll just have to grow into it! |

Through out all the weight charts, this is one breed that can not be predicted. Now if one closely line breeds, we can guesstimate, but even at that at times we can be thrown for a loop, either a bit undersized or oversized.
