| What type of Brush/comb to use? Hi, I need some advice. My 1 year old female yorkie, which I am trying to grow her hair out, has given me problems... so many knots and tangles... when i brush and comb her (without washing her), its so difficult .. and a lot of hair comes off... I think it's breaking... how do I avoid this without having to bathe her every time there are tanlges? I bought some baby hair detangler spray and it does not work... cant it go on dry hair, then comb? I tried this and it didnt work. I need some advice. I dont like to wash her evey week but with all these knots and tangles, maybe I have to... especially when the other pup plays with her and roughens her up... Also, I am using a brush on her, but I dont know if its the right one.. also should I be using a non bristle brush (but ones with spacers) and a WIDE comb? Any links on the web to show me what they look like? Thanks for your help.

| You can mist her hair before you brush it. This will avoid breakage. Perhaps this thread will help also. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=brush+comb

| Misting her with a solution of conditioner mixed with water helps prior to brushings. Yes, sometimes brushing a dry coat (especially one with tangles) can break the hair. I use a slicker brush, a flea comb for the face area, and a wild boar natural bristle brush.

| I bathe once a week and brush daily. CC products also help, especially Ice on Ice. |

| Thanks ! I'll try the misting with conditioner/water.. probably have to get a wide tooth comb... was trying to avoid bathing her too often to avoid dry skin... we'll see how it goes. My boy puppy is so rough on her and grabs onto her coat with his teeth , the little bugger.. HA !
