| They just don't get it! Need to vent to those that do... Some of you are aware that I am on the hunt for my second Yorkie from other threads... well, I may have found him. He's 6.5 pounds at 6 months old, might get a bit bigger - if not, that's ok. His breeder is awesome, just got off the phone with her. She only breeds a few litters a week, once kept a female pup until she was 5 months old as she was too small to leave mom, knew all the conditions that Yorkie's have, does genetic testing before she breeds and has never had a liver shunt baby or a luxating patella. This dog is for sale for $1100, already discounted $1500. She is selling him because he has gotten too large to breed with her females. My family has been all for me getting a 2nd dog, has helped me look, and come with me to look at possible new family members. Until I said I was going to get a Yorkie, full blood, reputable breeder, and that it would cost. Now that they know I am planning to spend $1100 they are freaking out. I am getting calls from my brother saying that "seems like too much, you're an idiot to spend $1100 on a DOG. It's just a dog!" He says I am getting ripped off. I was able to come to this site and prove to him that I am NOT and that most Yorkie's are in fact MORE, but he still doesn't get it. He searches the internet and finds them for $200-$300 and thinks that should be good. He doesn't understand the difference between a puppy mill and a breeder. My mother won't even talk to me now, even though she was the one who WANTED me to do this from the first place. My dad is still ok, and is going to make the 4 hour each way trip with me on Sat. if I decide it's a go. I am SO tired of being called stupid for spending money the way I want to! Yes, I am willing to spend a grand on a well bred, well socialized, happy pure bred dog. I spent $350 for Oliver, and while he is the love of my life, he is hard work! Skittish, scared of men, untrusting, the list goes on and on. I said to my brother that people are different, I will spend a grand on a dog, but I would NOT have spent 3 grand on a snowmobile like he did. We all spend money on things we enjoy. A snowmobile will never love you like a Yorkie will. Someone please tell me I am not insane. Someone please tell me they get it! Yes, it's a lot of $ when I should be spending it on things like a car, my loan, etc. But Oliver is miserable without another dog, and when I adopted him I made him a promise to do whatever it took to make him happy. This dog will make me happy, too! The picture is of the little guy that I truly hope will soon be mine...

| Hello.. first of all $1100 is not that much when you are going to love it for the rest of your life.. I spent $1500 for my lil Timba and he is the best thing that I have ever spent that $1500 on.. some people just don't understand how much love we have for our pets... that we would be willing to spend whatever just to make us and these lil furbabies happy... If it were me I would spend another $1500 again just to make my life filled with more lil furbabies to love... It's funny cause the hubby and I are looking into getting a lil girl now.... but the only thing that stops us is my witchy landlord.. she complains so much about my lil guy barking .. but thats what dogs do they bark... so go ahead and spend that $1100 for a furbaby who is going to be given so much love and a good home... do what you feel from your heart.... I would do it in a heartbeat... and by the way he is a keeper.. cutie pie

| Unless you have been bitten by the Yorkie bug.....you just don't get it. I think if your comfortable with the breeder and have done your homework, I say enjoy and spend your money on what makes you happy. Besides what a cutie pie...good luck! Rose

| haha, that should say she only breeds a few litters a YEAR, not a week lol I agree, he IS a keeper.. he's adorable! She does have someone else interested, and will not hold him. So, all I can do now is hope that no one snatches him up before Saturday. She says she's been burnt too many times with people not showing up, so she won't hold. If I was closer and could give a deposit she would. Stupid distance. I think my mind is make up. I am going to try and make this little baby mine. If people don't get it - TOUGH. Just zip it and live your life and let me live mine. I work hard for my money and if I wanna spent almost one whole paycheck on a dog, I WILL!

| You are definitely not crazy. It is obvious that your family does not know what it takes to have a reputable breeding program. I cannot believe that your mom is not talking to you over this I could see if you were spending that money on drugs... but a dog, really? Is it really something to get that upset over? I say go for it! She sounds like she does everything right

| She has issues with control.. I am not listening to her or doing things her way, so she has a problem with it. If it all turns out ok though, it will have been HER idea.

| I already asked her, she doesn't take paypal, credit cards, nothing but cash I guess I have to trust that if its meant to be, it will be.

| This may sound crazy - but sometimes when I look at Bailey - I feel that I would have gladly paid for her ten-fold because she brings that much joy to our lives.

| Not crazy at all... I am SO glad that there are people in this world who understand... I don't have children and likely never will (not by choice). I will be a crazy dog lady - and I will love every moment of it. lol

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | If I told my dh what I paid for my Biewer....he would strangle me, then give me CPR and strangle me again. Then he would drag my cold, limp body to the courthouse and divorce me. So, to save him all that messy prison time.....I just told him she was FREE. |
