| A local petstore here in El Paso typically sells their Yorkie males "ON SALE" for $1600 and females "ON SALE" for $1800! And I am sure they are from puppy mills. They currently have a female that has been there for at least 4 weeks! My heart breaks every time I see her in there. But I digress, ....I think these prices are typical when buying from reputable breeders or champion blood lines, however not when coming from the mills.

| Please don't buy from a pet store... There are a lot of reputable breeders out there. I'm sure YT members can help you find one. Dogs at pet stores are often from puppy mills even though the pet store insists they are from good breeders. Its hard to leave that puppy there but if you buy her, you will help perpetuate the puppy mill cycle.

I have zero intentions of getting another one and to be honest, with all the babies put to sleep each week at the humane society I could never justify paying that much for any dog, regardless of line or breed. I go in that store and my heart breaks, but I have to just walk away

| Did I miss something? Where did the original poster mention a pet store? Wasn't she asking about the price of Biewer?

I see nothing wrong with buying a puppy from a breeder. Rescue dogs aren't for everyone..

| Are you looking for a Biewer? Do you just want a pet? Most rescue's will not rescue to anyone outside the United States or even cross state lines...but the OP never said she wanted a dog but maybe was just asking a question? I personally believe $2000 is to much for a pet. Most reputable breeders will hold onto a show hopeful or a dog used for breeding. If the puppy does not work out then they try to find a wonderful pet home for their dogs and do not charge and arm and a leg...you just have to know your breeder.

| I have looked high and low for a rescue but in my area here in Canada there are really none...I love the look of biewers and figured I would look to see if I could find any in Canada.. Found a few but the average pet price was 2000 !!! So I'm still looking and thinking... And I would never go the pet store route.. |

| Confused I'm confused... Isn't a beiwer a different colored yorkie? And if so, are they considered an off color? If that is true, should they not be cheaper? Forgive my ignorance as I am new to the yorkie breed and a rookie at YorkieTalk!

| Ok, I may look like a COMPLETE idiot asking this, but is there a big difference between Canadian and American dollars? (YES...I know that Canada is in America, but you know what I mean...) I personally wouldn't have ever paid $2,000 for a dog, that just would have been too out of price range for me. I got one at a pet store (I didn't know better) for like $1300, and my other one cost $750...

There are parti colored yorkies though and they do resemble the Biewer but aren't the same.
