Steroids can bring a dog out of a vaccine reaction by reducing inflammation (throat closure), etc.

Since she has gotten through the first few hours, she will likely be fine (although the first day or two can be a bit of a risk). Small breeds don't always do well with vaccines (most do fine) and doing the rabies this early is just not a good idea. Vaccines are a hard issue. Some vets just don't stay educated on the subject (and they have no excuse for it). I personally would not leave a vet for a bad vaccine protocol "as long as" we could come to an understanding about it (that is, we decide what is best together from available research).

| Thank you for posting these links. I just spent the last hour looking at them. The information could/will save lives. Everyone should take time to read them. There is just so much to learn. Our babies are worth it. Thanks again.

She should be gaining weight weekly. Here's a wonderful growth chart: Yorkshire Terrier - Yorkie Puppy Growth/Weight Chart - watch us grow Do make sure Stella gets a bile acids test when she is 5 or 6 months old. All Yorkie puppies should have one done since liver shunts are 36 times more prevalent in this breed than all other breeds combined. Problems with vaccines can be a symptom of a liver issue, but I wouldn't panic. I think the poor baby simply got bombarded with vaccines, but it should be done as a precaution. Did her parents have bile acids tests before breeding? | |

| Quote: I printed several of these pages out and brought them to the vet today. The technician was so nasty and criticized us extensively for believing things we read on forums and posted on the internet. I politely smiled and realized that I do not want her to ever touch my baby. She was planning on giving the Bordatella that is required for our agility class and I said that I only want the vet to administer it. When the vet came in I explained that I want to follow Dr. Jean Dodd's schedule. He had all of his puppy shots and she said he isn't required by law for anything else besides the rabies that we gave last Nov. (3 year dose). We asked for a titer to check Parvo and Distemper. She said that if they are negative that we should consider giving the 4 in one shot bc we are attending the agility class. I said no way to the 4 in one. She said that was all they had--Parvo, Distemper, Hepatitis and Parainfluenza in one shot. I refuse to give all of those. My husband and I decided at home that if he is negative in Distemper and Parvo that we will buy single doses and ask the vet to administer them 3 weeks apart. We found this vaccine. NEOPAR® CANINE PARVO VACCINE Is anyone familiar with this? Or does anyone suggest a particular brand from a particular website? Thank you all so much for your time.

I'd suggest Revival for single dose vaccines. Pet Supplies | Dog & Cat Supplies | Vaccines | Revival Animal Health I'd also suggest picking up this book. It's a delightful read narrated by the author's little Maltese, Chicklett. It's full of important information for all pet owners, especially those of us who own toy breed dogs. | I appreciate you responding so quickly. I found the lady's site last night and enjoyed reading little Chicklett's point of view. I'm going to definitely buy the book. Once again, I'm extremely grateful for the information and links provided. Ignorance is not an excuse for our babies. I urge everyone to investigate all about vaccines and not to "trust" a vet 100%.
