| I'm scared too death (need comfort) My baby is 7 months old a little on the larger size 8-9lbs and tonight he swallowed a huge stick of plastic. It was the red stick that comes with cheez and crackers. It is about 2-2 and a half inches long. He swallowed the whole thing!!!! I'm preying it will just pass on its own but I'm looking at another one and it looks so big. It must have just slide down his throat staight down because he is showing no signs of discomfort at all. In fact he's his normal frisky self. Is it likely that this will just pass in his poop? What worries me is that it's plastic so I can't see it breaking down. Anxiously awaiting words of hope. |

| IMO Emergency vet ASAP! Too big to digest and possibility of puncture is present. Not to mention if the stomach acid starts to digest the plastic it is going to make him very sick.... Go now.... |

| Just talked to the vet I live 8 hrs away from a large city. We have 1 vet and it is 8:00 at night and a holiday to boot here. After reading your replies I called him at home. He said I could give him Hy Perox to induce vomitting t try and get him too bring it back up (which he did not recommend). He said too keep a close eye on him and if he starts getting lethargic or throwing up too bring him in , in the morning. He said there is a possibility that it may just pass. When i said i was concerned about it's size and it not breaking down enough for him too pass he said that the stomach acid could be very strong and could possibly break it down???? |

Also said it may get stuck and if so then we would look at surgery. My hands are shaking like mad. Doubt I'll get much sleep tonight. |

| Maybe call another vet to get an opinion, I think it's a good idea not to induce vomiting in case that makes him choke on it. Do you know if he chewed it at all or completely swallowed it whole? Any doctors on here? I'm guessing that's like a human swallowing something the size of a spoon or a popsicle stick right? You are in my thoughts!!! |

| I would not recomend trying to make him vomit. Hopefully the acid will soften it to pass through his colon with no issue. If you see any blood please rush him to the pet hospital. Good luck!! Sending all my energy to your baby.
