| Need-Getting 2 new babies at the same time I already have a precious little furbaby (Jussi) who is almost 1-yr. old and a ball of energy. We will soon be adding 2 little girls to our happy home. I can hardly wait but I'm getting a little nervous that maybe I won't do something right with them. I've only ever had one other dog in my life and never more than one at a time. Can anyone share some advice as to how to handle two puppies at once? Do I feed them from the same bowl, can I let them sleep together in the same little kennel? And, how to make sure that the adjustment goes well with my little baby boy. I don't want him to feel left out and I really, really want him to except his little new sisters and for them to accept and play well with him. HELP!!! (LOL)

| I got 2 littermates, a boy & a girl at the same time and they will now be turning 1 year in 2 days!! Now I am a pretty experienced dog owner, but I think it is easier because they always have someone their size and age to play with!! I feed them out of their own bowl, then I can see how much they each eat and one doesn't eat all of the other's food. You definitely can let them sleep together. You should introduce your other dog slowly and make sure you either have a penned in area or a playpen to put the pups when you can't watch them. Don't leave the puppies with your other dog unattended until they are a little older, and you can be sure that they all get along. Good Luck, You will have a blast!!

| You can let them sleep together if that is what you are comfortable with. However, I would definitely feed them out of different bowls, you want to know how much they are eating. Also, make sure they have some time away from each other, separate training time, etc... you want to make sure that they are confident and happy on their own as well as together. I would also introduce them to your current pup individually... this way he doesnt get overwhelmed. Good Luck!

| Thank you so much for responding to my question. I really appreciate your input and I think it is a good idea to have the different bowls so I can tell how much they are eating and I hadn't thought about giving them time on their own but that makes sense too. Thanks again.

| You will have to do lots of individual training to make sure they grow up to be well adjusted adults. Separate crates, training classes, socialization, etc. is very important for them to bond properly with you and to avoid separation anxiety later on. Here's a really good article: Two Puppies or One? - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! |
