| Cost was a shocker! So my baby is coming home on the 23rd, naturally I made my first trip to Petsmart yesterday because I wanted to stock up on all of her neccesities. Thankfully the breeder is sending me lots of starter goodies, like her food, t-shirt, her toys, shampoo and others. After about an hour here's what I came out with: a bag of food, a toy, a bag of greenies, some nutri-cal, collar, leash, harness, ID tag, and a dual water/food bowl... and that was $100.00! I am by no means am cheap, but this is my first dog and I didn't feel like I bought her much of anything (I mean, it all fit into one bag, minus the bag of food!)! Needless to say I didn't tell my husband what I spent lol! It finally occured to me that she will definitely be my fourth child, as I swear they cost as much as a kid! Anyway, thanks for letting me vent and recover on the price of my new puppy a little bit!

| I would say take the greenies back. I gave them to my girl before YT and she had a horrible time with them. I know others here have horror stories from these. Other than that sounds like your set! A healthy Yorkie can sure get expensive in a hurry too. |

| Congrats on your new baby! Yeah, PetSmart can be overpriced on some items. If you don't mind me asking--what are greenies?

| Greenies are popular chew treats for dogs that help keep teeth clean and are marketed as fully digestible. In 2006, 13 dogs died after consuming Greenies. Reportedly bits of the treat had become lodged in their esophagus and intestines. I have heard they changed thier formula but my girl had problems with them after this claim. I just don't trust them. |

| Yup, dogs are sooooooooooooooo expensive if they are taken care of correctly (frequent vet visits, grooming if you don't do it at home, etc.). The gneral rule is to figure $1000 a year per dog and hope nothing major comes up...

| I agree with Maddie's mommie on the Greenies!! Lucky liked them a little but I hated them!! They are dangerous and give most babies bad...foul smelling poo....

Oh no!! That's what I was afraid of. Are they the ones labeled "dental chews" and shaped oddly (not really in the shape of a bone, exactly)? Bella and Rocco loved those. Well thanks for the heads up.

| Congrats on your new baby! And now you will want a crate, a cute little bed, a cute little blanket, then you will find that the food and water bowl isn't big enough, then you will find a cuter leash, collar and harness. Then you will need shampoo for the times in between the groomer. Then you will need a brush, then stuff to get the matts out and everytime you go into a store you will head for the pet department if you go anywhere other than PetsMart or PetCo. We have a ton of doggie boutiques in the area and they get a lot of my money. Good luck and have fun!

| Thery're something that the breeder told me to buy. I didn't know what they were either until I got there... they're these little chewy snacks (I guess?) that help with their need to chew everything, all while cleaning their teeth. I'm curious to know what the horror stories are on these, because I will take them back if they're not good, or if they will make her choke or something?

| I have heard many terrible things about greenies. Check out this link. CNN.com - Owners: Dog treats killed our pets - Feb 15, 2006

| Come to the east coast and you will have to buy several sweaters and several coats to keep warm. And, of course, don't forget the boots for the snow. The list can go on and on, but the sweet little Yorkies are well worth the cost.
