| I am thinking about getting another yorkie... I would love to get another yorkie but I not sure if I want a female or another male. I have heard that 2 males might not be a good idea. Please let me know your experiences with either 2 males or a male and female. Again, I am just thinking about getting another one. The breeder said that yorkies are like potato chips, you can't have just one, and I think that she may be right! Last edited by lil louis; 02-08-2010 at 09:20 AM. |

| I don't have any troubles with all mine. Potty training is a little easier as the older ones seem to teach the youngins.

Your boy will also get along well with a girl so it's really whatever you prefer. (it's the 2 girls you sometimes have to watch out for). Dogs are really like people and have different personalities, I would suggest you look for another puppy that has a personality that will fit in with your current baby. Teresa |

| I have a little yorkie mix female and recently added a yorkie male. It all depends on the individual personality of the dog and the way in which you introduce them. Bella is very friendly, however, she can be very territorial. She doesn't like overbearing dogs, so it worked out because Rocco is generally very calm and docile. However, if you're not looking to breed I would make sure one or both is spayed/neutered (and preferably both from different breeders). We had Bella spayed awhile back, and after Rocco gets his boosters he will be neutered as well. Good luck on your search for a new baby! Having two is a lot of work at first, but I quickly got over the stress of it all..having two is just so much fun!!

| Congratulations! How exciting for you. For the most part, it's personal preference. Of course a boy and girl to "play dress up" would be way too much fun. I have three males and I don't have a problem with them -- they do get a bit "snippy" with each other occasionally, but once it's over they best friends again. |

| [quote=chattiesmom;2994060]Thanks, I am just nervous about adding another one. I don't want Louis to be jealous. He is a mommas boy for sure. (I don't want that to change if I get another one!) |

| I visit over my dad's often (sometimes 2 or 3 nights at a time) and they have 2 dogs -- a male and a female, plus Jackson when I'm there. Jackson gets along MUCH better with the other male and they are best buddies. The female & him have gotten in many more spats and fights and don't play as much. Jackson seems to play rougher with boys though, they like to wrestle a lot and play tug of war, etc. It's definitely less work on me being over there with other dogs because I don't really have to entertain him... they entertain themselves. When it's just me and Jackson, he definitely requires much more attention. On the downside... he picks up on their bad behaviors and barks a lot more than usual, etc and it often feels like a zoo over there, LOL. Sometimes it's nice to just go home to me and Jax.
