| Lillie has started waking us up at weird hours! This just started about 2 months ago....I have never had a problem with Lillie sleeping all night/until we get up in the morning, but lately, she's up at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, on on on....I usually either let her out to go to the bathroom, then place her back in her crate where she'll whine until we get up. I feel TERRIBLE because sometimes we move her crate into the bathroom and shut the door but we have to get some sleep! The dog trainer we went to said to NOT let her out even especially if she's whining like that because she needs to know who's boss and she can't have her way--and she'll continue to do that if we do. But DANG we need to sleep. I don't know what to do, we tried cutting the food/drink off at a certain hour at night, tried leaving her out of her crate during the day while we aren't home so she can play and get tired (I KNOW----that's a huge NO NO but this has actually worked 'some'). Anyone have any other suggestions? She just seems to be full of energy at whatever hour she wakes up. ---the joys of motherhood.

| I sometimes have this problem with Brandi but the one thing that seems to work is I say in a very stern voice 'be quiet". It's not so much what I am saying but it is my tone of voice. For whatever reason this works and it works everytime. It's like she can tell the difference between my playful voice and my very serious voice. I hate to say it but I think she actually gets scared when she hears the serious voice even though I have never hit her. Anyway it definitely works. It's the kind of voice you get when your kids are getting on your last nerve and you cant take it anymore. |

| Could she be sleeping too much during the day since no one is there and wakes up because she's not tired anymore?

Every time we come home, she's just sittin' on that big, fluffy couch like she's the Princess but she doesn't seem like she's been sleeping. We leave some non-haz toys out and they are usually thrown amuck. Now, when we kept her in the crate, she sleeps the whole time because she's bored. I give that little girl ALL of my attention when I'm home (which is most of the time) but she just started this waking up habit, then momma is too tired during the day.

| You definitely do not want to get her up in the middle of the night when she gets up. The first time you do it will make it that much harder to break her of the habit. She will think, "Hey, when I whine they get me out, so I will whine some more." You will have a couple of sleepless nights, but it will be worth it in the end. It's better than going weeks on end with not much sleep. Trust me I've been there. The key is to just ignore her. Hope this helps.

| Also, giving them bully sticks are a good way to drain energy in the evening.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have that problem with my Pixie, she wakes me up several times during the night for a treat. I started giving her treats because she wouldn't leave me alone until I did. Now I can't get her to stop. I try and then give in just so I can get back to sleep. Only advise I have is try and stop it now or else it will just get harder to do. It may take a week or two of ignoring her but it will be worth it in the long run.
