| A Second Yorkie? Advice Please I am very interested in purchasing a little friend for Charlie. He was a surprise present from my fiance and he was purchased from a breeder that our friends got theirs from. Their baby is very healthy and is about 2 years old now, so my fiance thought that the breeder would be fine to purchase a puppy from. Charlie is 15 weeks old today and is healthy now, but he was not in such great shape a few days after he came home. Thus, I do not want to buy a second one from the same breeder. Charlie had a terrible cough, "most lungs", mites, and an ear infection. It is all cleared up now. My question is how do I begin a search for another breeder? I am looking for one that is reputable and caring. I just want to buy a second one that is happy and healthy. We live near the Pittsburgh Airport and are willing to travel a bit to get a second one. Any advice, suggestions, etc. would be wonderful.

| I highly recommend finding a breeder through the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. They have a code of ethics that breeders must adhere to. I found my two boys through their breeder referral and had a wonderful experience. Here is the link to their breeder referral service. Just click on your state. | I got my girl from Square Bark in Belington, WV. Zhoie will be a year old on the 25th and has not had any health issues, (knock on wood). We live drove 4 hrs one way to visit at 8 wks and then went back to pick her up at 12 wks. Viriginia is a very caring lady with her litters. I know she had a little boy left when I talked with her around 1st of the year. Her next litter is expected around the end of July. I took have been debating getting a companion for my girl.

| Thank you, I will look at the YTCA. I am also interested in any recommended breeders. I will not buy a new baby without seeing the parents first, living conditions, etc. Any other advice?

| One of our members compiled an excellent info post titled, "Buying a Yorkie? READ THIS FIRST". You can find it in the 'Yorkie Classifieds" section, under *Featured Yorkies for Sale*. It's a sticky at the top of the page, 2nd from the top. Good Luck!
