YorkieTalk Newbie! | Walking outside! My 3 month old Enzo, simply hates the outside. When i try to walk him, like any puppy, he just sits there. Any tips? Also, i live in Quebec and right now there is snow on the ground, but i made sure to take him to the park where there is a pathway that is not covered with snow. |

| I think maybe you should walk him in the house first. I live in CT and it is cold out and I don't even bring my 5 month old out in the cold. I walk her on a leash in the house so that she gets use to it and come spring we are going to start our walks!!

| maybe your puppy is wondering why you have attached something to him...your puppy is thinking "now what?" lol you could try doing it in the house a few times, with treats maybe. if he walks a few feet, give him a treat. a few times of this and your baby may get the hang of it. just an idea. good luck!

| My 4 months old used to do that when I started taking him out. He hated the leash. When he saw the leash, he refused to move, he'd sit down and looked at me. I tried bringing him out a couple of times and now he's enjoying his walk. |

YT Addict | Mine is 4 months and still not used to it, the best thing I like for the cold to is his harness i can put it on first and then pull his hook up thru his sweater.....so we are still working on it...but he would rather ride in his stroller. |

| Maggie loves to go for walks but when the harness and leash are put on her she stands still. When I pick up the leash and start walking then she will move. Maggie is over a year old!

| Sophie Kate is the same way, when the harness and leash is on but "in hand" she will stand still but them minute its up and someone is holding it she will walk. I am not sure why but it sure works out well at times. As for training to walk on a leash, I took puppy classes and they showed a way of motivating the dog to walk on leash by rolling a ball and walking with the puppy to get it. With that said that was only used to get them moving, they do not want the puppy to pull on the leash, Sophie Kate will walk on my right side only and not on the left (I think that is because that is the side I used when training her).
