| How much $$$ for a Yorkie--your thoughts Ok so I'm just interested in what everyone thinks...How much do you think is reasonable to pay for a Yorkie? Asuming the pup comes with a great health guarantee, parents have been through all the testing, and you really feel comfortable with the breeder??? I'm looking forward to your replys...

| It depends, pedigree's make a difference, pet only I would never pay more than $2000.00. Breeding rights depends on pedigree.

| I paid $1200 for Carson. I got him at 5 months. He came from a very good breeder in Michigan and he is worth every penny of it and more !! After I brought Carson home I crossed out the $1200 on the bill of sale and wrote $600.00 I told my Husband I got him for 600 because he was 5 months old LOL |

I did that twice . . .what he doesn't know, won't hurt him . . . I felt bad doing it, but he wouldn't understand or even consider spending over $1,000 for a dog . . .he has no idea what groceries even cost . . .I still think he's living in the 80's . .

YT 2000 Club Member | oh my.. first of all I wouldnt keep a secret like that from my hubby, because I certainly wouldnt want the situation to be the other way around.. lol..that I would feel too guilty.. but hey to each thier own. I couldnt justify paying more than 500.00 for a healthy pet qualitly dog.. for a show dog, breeder etc.. I wouldnt pay more than 1000.00 BUT the going rates for dogs in my area is pretty low and honestly when I first joined this group and discovered what some of you paid for your yorkies I just about fell out of my chair..the more reading I did and learning, I understood why you paid what you did..

$1,000 for a show dog in NY.......I don't think so, not even a pet would go for that and I know several breeder/exhibitors on the east coast.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would pay the asking price get the yorkie I wanted from a great breeder and health guarantee. I would rather pay upfront and have a better chancde of a healthy, bred to standard yorkie than have tons of vet bills. I paid 1500 for one of mine that I did not research the breeder (before YT) and ended up with a sick puppy and enormous vet bills. I have paid from 1000 to 2500. So while cost doesn't guarantee a healthy dog, I have found in my area to get a dog from a reputable breeder you will pay 1000 or more. The one I paid 2500 for was exactly what I was looking for and my husband paid for her as a gift. Best gift I ever got!

| It seems like 1200-1800 is the typical cost around here in FL from all my research. But of course, I'm seen some for way more and way less. Just depends on the breeder and the dog. |

YT 2000 Club Member | I have never looked into owning a show yorkie or a yorkie to breed. Im sure they are more than 1000.00 I just wouldnt pay that, because I dont ever plan on doing either. Ive seen yorkies in the papers in my area akc registered anywhere between 250.00 to 1000.00.. Ive seen a very few partis run as low as 900.00. Dogs arent generally highly priced here. I was a poodle person and when I got Tucker (yorkie mix) he was the first "yorkie" Ive ever owned. So I didnt do any research on the breed untill he was born. Thats when I found this board, read and fell in love with them. So up untill then I didnt know how much they actually were.
