| Walking in the cold Hi, New owner here. Our little Chloe is 17 weeks and I want to walk her. It is going to be 33 degrees today and sunny but the sidewalks are somewhere snow covered. Can I walk her for 20 mins or so? Or should I wait for warmer weather. Thanks |

| Bump. I would like to know to. Bailey gets cold really fast but we have lack of excersise during winter weather. Can I still walk her ? We cant play outside in our backyard because there is to much snow and she doesnt like her belly touching the snow...lol silly girl.

| I try to walk my 2 even if is cold. I bundle them up and watch them to see if they start to shiver or shake. We get wicked winds where I am so I really watch closely to see how they are reacting to the cold and winds. another reason I do this is to be consistent. Some days we only go to the mailbox, other days we may walk down to the stop sign, but at least they get some consistency. I just found out this past snow storm that Hot Rod likes running and playing in the snow! I knew Maggie did from last year. I wouldn't keep them out too long as it is cold on their little pads. Hope this helps.

| I can tell you what I do, but it may a little different for your situation because we don't get much snow here in Texas. This morning it was in the low 50's and I put a sweater on Sassafras before we went out for our walk and she did fine. It helps when the wind is not blowing and the sun is out. Have your pups had all of their shots? When we first got Sassafras our vet did not want us to bring her outside for walks until she fully immunized. I would suggest you watch your pups closely for any discomfort, like shivering or shaking. Often they let us know quickly if they are uncomfortable.

| I forgot to add to my previous post that there are many fun activities you can do inside with your puppies. Play ball with them and teach them to fetch or play with other toys that gets them moving around.

I take Rocky out in 20 degree weather, but for only 5-10 minutes, once he poops, he starts walking back towards the car or home himself. But if is having fun, we stay out a bit longer. Anything below 35, he wears a sweater. But its good for them, fresh air and exercise.

What I do with our little boy is wait for warmer weather and I think you should do the same. I tried talking him out one day but he shivered and shaked like CRAZY..lol. But I would wait for warmer weather. You could play with Chloe inside, such as playing ball or teaching her new tricks and she'll get all the excercise and energy she needs! I love my yorkie

| Yes, we walk in the cold when it is that temp. I don't like to take her out for walks if it is much colder than that. She loves her walks and wants to go and she runs through the snow like a wild woman! I use an extendable leash so she has more freedom. I bundle her up really good and she does fine.

| Sophie wears a jacket in the winter. She is just over 1 and weighs 4lbs. We just got back from our walk . Sophie loves her walks no matter what the weather...she's a trooper! I take her for a 15 minute walk in the afternoon and my husband takes her for another in the evening. It's 38 degrees here today, a regular heat wave for Michigan

| Wow, I can barely get Fancy out the door to do her business and I bundle her up for that. She has a sweater on and her coat but she shivers as soon as she gets her first paw out the door. We just play inside and she runs around chasing the kids - we have a pretty big living room so there is a lot of room for her to run around and playball and play with her chew toys. We play hide and seek when its dark outside - we only leave one light on in the livingroom and turn off all the other lights in the house then one of us will hold her and then someone will go hide and start calling her name and she goes all over the house until she finds the hider! Its so cute, she will even look behind doors! We all love that game, especially the kids - the giggle alot while hiding so Fancy finds them quicker!

YT Addict | I don't see the harm in taking her out for short walks. She'll probably need a little sweater to cover her bellie but she should be fine. Watch for signs that she is getting too cold.
