| lady offered to buy a puppy A Lady that works with my sister offered to buy one of my Fiona's babies for $400. Is that too little??? I counted with $600 to see what she would say. She told me she was not willing to buy a mixed dog or a dog without papers for more than $400. the only reason why she was willing to buy my puppy was because she knew my sister and her dog (the father) and she has meet the mother (my sister takes them to work with her sometimes) she was looking for a pure breed when my sister told her I had puppies. I kind of felt like she just dissed my babies. Do you think my asking price was too much? The lady was very nice, had a gaint three karat ring on her finger. I figured the Hubby must have money. I started thinking "maybe they'll spoil the little one rotten," which is a good thing. After thinking about it for a bit, I don't think I want to sell my dog to someone who wants a pure breed and papers. Simply put mines are none of that. If you know what you want, go and get it, leave mines be. |

| I would never pay $600 for a mixed breed, either. You can go to the pound for those. Are your pups purebred or mixed? Also - just because a person has money does NOT mean the pup is going to a "good" home.

| Your puppies are Yorkie/Chi...right? No offense but I wouldn't even pay $400.00 for a mixed breed...too many are in shelters waiting for loving homes for way less than $400.00. |

| I don't see why you would be offended if someone wanted a purebred with papers? It isn't dissing your dogs, your pups are what they are. I am sure they are special and adorable just like all puppies. Don't feel offended. Personally I wouldn't pay 600$ either, I don't even think I would pay 400$ for mixed puppies. I have a possible mixed yorkie-poo. I paid 150$ for her when she was 10 months old. I would pay 250$ max probably. |

| I agree, I would not pay $600 or $400 for a mixed breed. I might pay $150. (max) but that is it. And it would depend on the breeds that were mixed, too. So I would take the $400 and run, if the lady is willing to take a puppy for that price.

| I agree with the other posters on here, I would never pay that much money for a mixed breed. You should have taken her up on that offer, because she is one of only a few that I think would ever pay that much. Also, just because she might have money doesn't mean that you should want to take advantage of her by charging that much for a mixed breed pup. Obviously you love your pups, no one is denying that, but your main goal should be to find them GOOD homes, not out to make a buck. But the main question still remains, are your pups mixed or full bred?

| If shes a nice lady and your sister knows her to be able to take care of a pup, I would take the 400$ and be happy. |

| I understand that most people are only willing to pay for a pure breed. I wasn't going to sell any of my puppies. I made that decision when my little one got pregnant. I knew that my new little ones were not going to be prized like a pure breed and I wasn't willing to chance that they may end up in a home that doesn't value them simply because of that. or worst end up at a shelter. The lady knew I wasn't planning on selling the puppies and she offered to pay for one. i needed to know if she really wanted the puppy to love. I figured she just becuase one becuase it would be cheaper than a pure breed. I have great homes lined up three of them, for free. I am keeping one. One is going to my best friend and two are going to my boyfriends mother. but they both have told me that if someone was willing to buy one it would would be okay to them. If i was going to sell one to a stranger, the stranger would have to work for it. And most people wont do that for a mutt. And I dont need the money. I just want great homes for the little ones. =) Last edited by Flower003; 01-12-2010 at 12:34 PM. |

| I have a yorkie/chi ("chorkie") and he was only $100 or $150 (can't remember now), as I got him at 5 months old from another family who was getting rid of him. I personally (being a biased mommy) think he's the most adorable dog in the whole world - BUT I still wouldn't have paid $600 for him. Do you have any pictures? I would love to see the little cuties! |

| I was offended because she asked me for a puppy knowing they were mutts. if she wanted a pure breed with papers go get one. She didnt' need to ask me. I asked for $600 just to see what she would say. i proberly would've given them to her for free if she had tried to impress me with how much she would love the dog. instead of going on on about how my dogs are not pure. the puppies are chorkies.
