| Adopting for the first time I have been searching for a Yorkie puppy for about a year now and yesterday I finally found the perfect one on puppyfind.com. He is being flown to an airport near my apartment on Friday. I've been around dogs my whole life and through all my research, I have discovered that a Yorkie is the perfect pet for me. This will be my first time adopting a puppy on my own. Any tips for a new Yorkie owner?? Thanks! |

| Thank you! I will do that for sure! I am so excited to get him. I am thinking of naming him Riley, but I'm not sure. |

| Welcome to YT and Congratulations!!!! You have to tell us about your puppy...how old, male/female, where's he/she coming from etc...and if you have photos we LOVE photos!!! I have two tips for you that I learned with my yorkie baby: Keep him/her off the couch/chairs/beds unless you are hands on with him/her. My baby fell off the couch after being with me just 4 days and broke her little back leg. She was only 9 weeks and undergoing surgery, that was so very scarey!!! Second, get some Nutrical and depending on your baby's age/size you'll want to give it to him/her...I gave it to Bijou for her first four months, and still give it to her once a week...mostly because she loves it now. I can't wait to see photos!!!!

| Okay thanks for the tips! I will definitely post pictures soon. His name will probably be either Riley, Cade, or Bentley. He is 9 weeks old and coming from Missouri on Friday. What kind of dog food is the best to get??? |

| Congrats! Make sure you never use a collar to walk him, always use a harness for walks. |

| First of all, congratulations on getting a yorkie! Here are some tips- If your yorkie whines or barks at the door, let him/her out RIGHT AWAY. Ask someone who knows a lot about yorkies (like a vet or in a book) about how much you should feed him/her. Make sure not to give into your yorkie when he/she begs (belive me, i've been there before) and give it plenty of fresh water. Read A LOT about yorkies. If your yorkie is acting strange call someone who knows a lot about yorkies, look it up in a book or online, or go to a vet. Most of all, show your yorkie lots of love and attention! I hope this helped! Proud and loving owner of Vinny |

Is the breeder sending food? We got like a months worth of food from the breeder and kept her on that for the first year. do you have a crate? somewhere the puppy can be when you can't watch every move. Like when you're in the shower, bathroom, cooking etc. some doggie beds? madison has 4 LOL and uses them all ( Including the one under our bed) most of all lots of love along with the other tips posted, you'll do just fine. | |
