| New to YT Hi Everyone! I just wanted to say hi and thank you to everyone for this site. It is a great tool and I have found so much useful information on here. I adopted Snickers back in August from a coworker who gave her up. Snickers doesn't like children, and spent most of her time in the bedroom or locked up in her crate. My baby's history is not 100% known. I know she is ACA registered, and has been with two separate breeders (the first retired). She did have a litter with the second breeder, but they were premature and did not survive. The breeder did say that it affected her very much, and she spent several weeks looking for her babies. The breeder had her spayed after that. Shortly after, my coworker adopted her. I'm unsure of her age. The paper states she was born the later part of 2006, but the breeder's website states early 2006. One of the breeders must have had her debarked because her bark is very mute. It is getting stronger though. I have a gut feeling that she was abused too early on in her life. She absolutely hates other animals and is very scared if she isn't in my house. Even when I walk her, she gets scared of the birds, leaves blowing in the wind, people walking by, etc. Sometimes I look at her and I start to cry thinking about everything she's been through. She is so sweet and Innocent. I don't know why anyone would have hurt her. Thanks for listening Amber Last edited by SnickersMomma; 01-09-2010 at 09:55 PM. |

| Welcome, Amber! So happy to hear you have given Snickers a wonderful home. She sound like a very sweet pup. She may not have been abused, but not socialized much. Just keep working with her and expose her to new things a little at a time. Hope you love YorkieTalk like I do!

| Welcome to YT Welcome Amber, your story is very touching, hopefully in time things will get better for her. Thank goodness you have her now. I think these dogs are kinda jumpy anyway, they are very alert to things around them I've noticed. My parents had a yorkiepoo and he would always bark at airplanes and try to chase after them...also shadows, it cracked us up to watch him. But I have noticed my dog Nigel is very alert to things around him but not quite to that extreme. Hope you like it here, I'm somewhat new to but I love it...lots of good info and I enjoy the pictures too!!!

| Hi Amber - Welcome to YT. Its so sad to hear about the things that have happened to Snickers but the good this is that she will be able to live out the rest of her days in your loving care. In time, hopefully she will become more comfortable and less scared.
