| At 4 months lifting leg a lot Ruger is due for neutering at 5 months old. He used to pee without lifing, but now he is lifting all the time and peeing on vertical objects -- in the house. Should I call my vet and ask about pushing up his scheduled neutering? By the way, does lifting have anything to do with the fact that he hasn't been neutered yet? And, now he's lifting his leg is it too late to break this habit when he finally does get neutered? I've got pee pads in the places he does pee, but I've had to move them around a bit to make up for the fact that he's lifting. I also used somebody's idea here of wrapping a pad around a bottle so he has something to pee against. Hasn't used that yet. Thanks. |

| I would get him in right away as well as put his puppy pads away from any objects or walls. |

| I had Duke neutered just as he approached the 4month mark. He never lifted his leg before hand, and still doesn't at 7 months. I would try to push up the date, and hopefully you can get him to stop. Good luck! Gina |

| Jack is a little over 7 months, is not neutered yet, and still doesn't lift his leg. Hopefully I am not cursing myself here as he is trained to go on the pee pads because its to cold for him to go outside. But yes, I would see if the vet can move his appointment up.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Marking and cocking their leg to potty are two separate things. He will probably never go back to squatting or only occasionally at best. Once they start marking it is difficult to break as it is instinctive for them to mark their terriority...neutering may or may not help. All of my males mark... so does my female and all of them are altered....fortunately it is not inside my house. You may want to invest in belly bands.

| I just got my new boy two weeks ago. He was neutered in Nov. and he turned 1 in Dec. I guess he had started to lift his leg and mark a bit in the house at the breeders home. I have to say though he has not marked in my house. At least I never noticed if he did but he is always with me so I hardly dout it. He lifts his leg occasionally outside but 85% so far he squats. Maybe you can get some belly bands if you think he is marking inside. |

| Winston is 7 months and doesn't lift his leg. He was just neutered last week, and he still doesn't lift - he just kind of squats down his middle and pees. I think that lifting is more about marking & your dog's personality than actually peeing. Winston sniffs at hydrants & telephone poles that I've seen other dogs mark, but if he pees there he still squats. |
