| The Cold and Yorkies do not mix!! Just wondering how others are dealing with this horrible cold wheather and their yorkies. I have a yorkie, Dixie and each of my twin daughters each have a yorkie, Teddy and Max. They are all between one and a half years and two years old. It has been bitterly cold and the wind blowing with gusts up to 50mph the past few days. The little yorkies just get so cold within two minutes of letting them outside. I just cannot do it. We are using lots of piddle pads for them. They just do not seem to understand the cold and why they cannot run freely outside like they want to do. We are in Northern Virginia, how is it in your area and how do you do with your little ones?? |

| I dont know how people/yorkies do it... My little guy is almost 5mos old and I cant bare the thought of letting him out. I got him the end of October and he has not stepped foot on the ground outside. It is too cold here in NY. Even when I put his sweater on and bring him in the car with us he shivers for a few minutes. It is way too cold out for these tiny babies I have been litter box training him. |

| My Callie is 16 pounds so not really tiny and I have been keeping her in sweaters plus she has a doggy door and goes out and comes in when she needs/wants too she never really liked the puppy pads she prefers to do her buisness outside. The wind yesterday and today was scary to her so when I knew she had to go I would say ok go potty and stand at the door and that made her feel safe enough to run out go and run back in. When it snowed my grandpa cleared a little path and a patch of grass and if she was cold she would run out go potty and run back in but sometimes she would stick her face right in the snow lol.

| I live in NE Tennessee and it has been cold in this area. Tonight it is getting in the single digits. Our three yorkies, weights are 4, 5 and 6 pounds, wear coats outside and sweaters inside. They don't ask to go out as often and when they do go outside they potty quickly and come back inside. |

| Chloe and Fiona (especially Fiona) hates the cold but will go out for about 1 min. at a time. This will be Chloe's 2nd winter and Fiona's 1st. It is in the neg. here in IL. tonight and it is very hard on their feet more than anything so we have pee pads, shoes, sweaters, and coats but nothing to protect against the slippery ice spots. |

| Yes.....very cold in Illinois!! Abby wears sweaters, coats and boots. She has a great little coat. It's called an eskimo coat. Her boots are great too, expensive, but well worth it. Yesterday I found......................are you ready for this? A set that contained leg warmers and a scarf!!!!! I am so crazy that, yes...... I bought it. I haven't had time to try them on her though. Ok, you can say it..................I need my head checked.

| Lucy has taken a step backward in her potty training due to the cold and snow. She hates it! But she has never used a pee pad and just shreds it if I put one down. If I go w/her, she'll go out for about 30 seconds and do her business. Poor dogs. Mine have been cooped up in the house for about a week now. It's just too cold to walk them. My Westie especially has cabin fever. We took them for a quick trip to PetSmart just to get them out. My Westie loves to go there but Lucy seemed a bit afraid. |

| We are living in Germany out side and a good example it was around 20 degrees today with about 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground... our solution is that we play dress up... when its time to go outside (we have a yard so we just let her run free for about 5-10 min tops) she puts on a tee-shirt, then her snow jacket, and then her sweat-shirt/hoodie... and she loves it and just runs around the whole time... then also we have a fluffy rug on our door step (which doesnt get snow on it) the for her to warm her paws on or sit on tell its time to come back in incase she getts tired out or cold to soon (but that never happens most of the time she is still running around in circles or eating the snow when I go to let her in... even though she uses the litter box I still think its important for alice to go outside she loves it... if I try and bring her in earlyer than that 5 min... she just runs the other way... she loves the snow and I think she knows she can always warm up later... lol

| I must have a yorkiehusky because mine LOVES the snow, we got another 13 inches here yesterday and even with the high winds and tons of snow she barks at the door to go outside...She is a very strange dog.. she would stay out there for hours if I let her... she sits by the door with ball in mouth barking to get out in the snow, she gallops through it like a reindeer , and she is still a little one only 5 pds.. its pretty funny!! Maybe she thinks she is Santa Paws

| Jackson is a SNOW dog, he loves it. He was plowing through 3 feet of snow a few weeks ago. (http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-blizzard.html) He doesn't mind the cold but he does not like the wind... he just runs outside real quick, does his business and we come right back in.
