Senior Yorkie Talker | Rantings of a crazed yorkie mommy!!! When I got Ares I didn't care what size he would be as an adult, but people on the street are obsessed with his size! "Oh how cute... is THAT as big as "it" gets?" I roll my eyes every time, tilt my head to side sweetly and reply with "No "IT" should be about 110 pounds when full grown!" "Isn't "IT" a teacup?" "Nope... "IT" is a teaspoon, and T-bone mix!" *wink* lol I have to admit before I became a yorkie mommy, I know I used to annoy the hell out of the owners of yorkies I came across! I did the whole..."Can I violate your personal space, and pet your puppy?" So I totally understand Karma, and now I'm in yorkie hell! I can't go anywhere with my baby without him getting propositions... I mean I have to beat people off with a stick! lol "Awwww" from a safe distance is fine but the 7 year old who wandered away from his mother (lolly in tow) reaching down to rub on Ares is a daily battle! *giggles* I have a 6 and a 5 year old... I have never allowed them to touch someone's dog with clearance from me and the owner first!!! I mean "Mommy Dearest" is texting away on her black berry and igging her son! So I pull a Xena and cartwheel away from "Kid lolly pop". Dodging a collie with ADD, a bulldog who just "looks" pissed, and another "aww"... needless to say Ares and I made it out of Petsmart in one piece!!! Whew!

| eh, I get questions and stuff all the time...I have a VERY shy one, and a lot of people (mostly kids) will try to pet him without asking me. He will try to get away from them, and that'll usually give me the cue that he wants to not be touched. sometimes I will sit with him and allow kids to pet him, and other times I will tell the kids not to pet him, depending on how badly they've already traumatized him. It's difficult to not baby him, but to let him not freak out. I really don't let anything bother me. It's basically just people don't know your feelings, and they don't know that they're the 5 millionth person to ask you the same question, haha. Just don't let it bother you...it's really not that big a deal in the big scheme of things...

| I agree, it amazes me how many people feel that they can just pet or try to pick them up!!! I always thank the people, especially the kids if they ask if they can pet my two.

YT 500 Club Member | Being a bit older and wiser my Alfie will say hello then come hide by me, the problem is Rosie as she just wants to jump up everyone and get attention. She really hates being egnored. And as she's so cute most everyone is happy to oblige. Can make for very long shopping trips. |

| It's one of the minor disadvantages to having the cutest dog in the world.

Senior Yorkie Talker | I totally understand! Like petsmart is "doggie pimps r us" or something! If you wanted to breed you would show interest during the converstation... People just don't get it do they?

| People are strange and feel almost obligated to comment when they see a dog (or maybe a Yorkie). One evening I was pumping gas, Sophie Kate was in the back window on her hind legs looking at me. In the car next to me on the other side of the pump was this man lets say maybe 30, he was the passenger and I presume he had a few adult beverages because he says to me "Your dog looks like a Monkey". Now I can be a tad bit sarcastic and I just started laughing and said back to him "your kid looks like a Monkey" (note there was NOT a kid with this man). Well his friend who was also pumping gas started laughing and the man who originally made the statement says "How do you know", I just looked at him straight faced and said "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree". Thank goodness they both had a good sense of humor, they both just laughed - it really was quite fun.
