| New to the YT Community.. Yorkie.Russell Hi I just recently brought a Yorkie Russell who just turned four months on the 17th of this month. I was wondering if there were any other ppl on this site that may have the same exact designer pet. I have a couple of questions because I am new to this whole having a puppy or pet. What kind of food is best for puppies? What kind of treats are good for the puppy? and for training? What shampoo is good? Do you think a puppy litter box is good for the home? |

| Hello! Welcome to YT What kind of food is best for puppies? Here is a website that reviews dogfood. I love this site Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble What kind of treats are good for the puppy? and for training? For treats, all 3 of my furbabies LOVE "bullysticks" to chew on. For training, I use 100% dehydrated salmon (or other kinds of fish), alot of people use cheerios. What shampoo is good? I use "Isle of Dogs", but there are many good shampoos, and alot of threads have been posted about this. You could do a search and maybe even order samples from the companies that you think you'd like to try. Minksheen and Chris Christensen are also good Do you think a puppy litter box is good for the home? We use pee pads, but some people choose to use litter box's. It depends what your personal preference is.

| Welcome and Congrats! Cant wait to see some pics What kind of food is best for puppies? I feed mine Innova its a high quality food and Lola seems to like it What kind of treats are good for the puppy? and for training? Lola like her Bully stick which you can get from yt member "AMD" her website is www.westbrookdog.com Lola also like her himalayan chew (it made from yak and cow milk, basically its cheese) and it last for a long time. Get for big chewers What shampoo is good? I really like using BioGroom, if you contact the company they will send you samples to try Do you think a puppy litter box is good for the home? I use the pee pads for Lola and they work well for her. If you decide on the litter system, be careful some dog like to eat the pellets and can choke. Hope this help...good luck with the new pup and remember we're here for you

Wellpet - Nutrition - Commercial Pet Food - Ethoxyquin in Pet Food Ethoxyquin reduces the blood plasma level of Vit E, it also impairs Selenium (vit E keeps selenium at the +2 oxidation state and selenium reduces Vit E once it has been oxidized, thus 'recycling' it) Ethoxyquin also reverses active transport of glucose, causes cancer of the kidneys, liver, esophagus and stomach, caueses cycling problems in bitches, and motility in intact males, cardiomyopathies, skin and coat problems and 'trashes' the liver. In an internal memos from the FDA from 1959 (bless the freedom of information act) it was declared a poisonous and deleterious substance, but then a special ammendment to the Food and Cosmetic Act was passed in '59 and it was allowed in animal foods. The scarey thing is... Even if the label doesn't list ethoxyquin (a carcinogen used, among other things, as a rubber preservative), it could still very well be in that food. "Because of labeling law loopholes," says Anitra, "many pet foods containing ethoxyquin do not have to list it on the label. If the food you buy already has ethoxyquin in the fat, it doesn't have to be listed on the label, because the food manufacturer didn't actually put it in. Here is a link to a thread where we just recently discussed Ethoxyquin use in dogfood. On that thread, I copied and pasted a list of foods that are "safe" or "unsafe". I just thought that I'd share with you what I have learned. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...dog-foods.html
