Yorkie Talker | What can I do to make her ears stand up? My 8 week old yorkie has ears that still flop over. I would really like them to stand up. I have heard you can shave the ears so they won't be too heavy. Any suggestions? When she was born, I had the beeder to leave her tail long (not cut). She is so cute with that tail wagging. If people could see her, I think it would start a trend in America. The English do not cut off their tails. I love this site!!!!!!!I have owned yorkies for thirty years and I had no idea there were people as obsessed with them as I am! Teresa Abbie and Zoey |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome! I would try shaving the hair of the tips of her ears first to see if that works. The little pom I am fostering's ears were floppy so I shaved the tips and with in 1 day they came up and have stayed up.

| Oh my gosh I didn't know Yorkies tails were docked in America. Its illegal here. I can't imagine not seeing Alfie's little tail wagging constantly whenever he is happy which is whenever he's not asleep. Good on you for wanting your dog to keeps its tail. I just didn't know you did it there. Tail docking is illegal on any dog here unless its for medical reasons. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | If their tails are docked you can still see their tail wagging. It just looks like a tiny tail wagging rather than an average sized tail wagging. When I bought my first yorkie I didn't even know tail docking even existed until I read about it online. I figured mine was docked since her tail was so tiny.

| First off I'd let the ears alone till she's 12 to 14 weeks. By then they should either be erect or half way up. Doing too much to the ears before then can actually damage the cartilage to where they will never stand up. If by the time she's 14 weeks and they are really flat down, then this method is an excellent one that works if there is no damage done.
