| Newbie Hi Everyone. I'm new to the group and wanted to introduce myself. I live in Flagler Beach FL, near Daytona. I'm 67yo, divorced, and my 90 yo mother lives with me. I'm an RN and still work full time. I'm trying to get 2 new careers off the ground (late bloomer). I'm trying to get accounts and do accounting at home and I have a clothing line/doggie bed company. I have the Amelia Puchi (or Poochie) Designer Collection. I haven't decided which name is best, so I have both and will decide later (later is here, already). I'm a volunteer with STFBR ShihTzu Furbaby Rescue group. I had just had my last 2 fosters adopted when a nearby Humane Society called me and asked if I could pick up a teacup Yorkie who had been found wandering the streets. They were going to euthanize her because of her age. She is 8yo! They said that people only want puppies. So long story short, Tina Foxx is living with me, now. I also picked up a tiny little ShihTzu (also 8) who was going to be put down due to age. She was an OTI named Girl. I call her Baby Girl. I don't like changing doggie names because that's all that they have left of their original life. No collar, no favorite toy, no familiar bed or food or even a schedule. Of course, for many, they may not have any warm fuzzies to remember. You out there in rescue know exactly what I'm talking about. So, please spay/neuter. If you must purchase a pup, please do your research and be sure that you are not buying from a puppy mill. Insist on seeing the Mother dog and inspect they living quarters. If the breeder will not allow that, please move on. Unless you want to show your pup, a rescue pup is the best choice. I don't know why anyone would want a puppy, anyway. The older ones are so much better. I do know why people want puppies, so I take that back. Puppy breath is so sweet. Just don't write off a furbie because of their age. There is no better feeling than taking a mill mommie or daddy who has never had solid ground under their feet, only wire, and give them a warm, soft place to land. No more being peed on or pooped on from the crate above. Many go blind just from this. I've got to get off of that soap box. I apologize. I just feel so strongly about this, and I know how much love these little ones have to offer, even after the abuse and horrendous conditions that they have endured. Thanks for listening.
