| Traveling on the road with pup. I am planning a road trip in spring from NYC to Vermont, using scenic route 100 all the way to Canada border, and then back. I was wondering, do I have to look for pet friendly motels? Or can I just sneak Rocky in and not worry about it? He hardly every barks, and does his stuff only on pads or outside. So peeing inside would never be a problem. I am just wondering how much of an issue would it be with Motel owners. Thanks |

| I would look for pet friendly hotels and book ahead as they usually only have a limited number of rooms that allow pets. I would not take the chance of getting caught and many hotels now will charge you a hefty fee for fumigation if they catch you with a pet. IMO it's not worth the risk.

I would make sure before you go to your hotel- find somewhere for him to play or take him on a long walk so he is happy to just go to bed when he gets in the room. Make sure you bring toys that dont' squeak and I tend to keep the tv on slightly louder than normal to mask any noise she might make. Layla behaves better than most kids at hotels Happy travels. | |

| We made the trip from East Tennessee to Northern Maine last year and from East TN to Denver this year. We had no trouble finding pet friendly hotels. We have found most Holiday Inns and Best Westerns are pet friendly. Maddie is a larger Yorkie so she would be a bit harder to sneak in and I guess the old conscience works on me about going against policy. |

| I was driving from MD to NY and the GSP was closed and I was exhausted so I pulled off to a hotel and took Bandit in and asked if they accepted pets (I left Nala in the car for a few minutes because she was still only 4 months and not the best behaved pup lol) the receptionist LOVED him and only charged me $5 for him. So, I put both pups in the carrier and they LOVED the hotel room. I put towels down on the floor because Nala still wasn't potty trained and it wasn't a huge problem. I took them for a lot of walks, but I would have been too scared to sneak them in without asking but if yours is well behaved you might not have a problem. I know some hotels charge a nominal fee like $25 dollars which the hotel I stayed at was supposed to charge but some charge OVER $100!! |

| We Confess, We Sneak Bella In We have made SEVERAL trips between Western NY and Arizona with Bella. We just carry her in and don't try to hide it. She is not trained to go anywhere except outside. So, we just take her out. She doesn't bark unless she hears a noise. Risky, yes, but we figured it was easier to beg forgiveness than pay the many hefty fees many hotels charge. It's a personal choice. For us, it was easy and not the least bit stressful. We were just low key and not obvious. Good luck and have a GREAT trip! |

| There are way too many pet-friendly hoytels out here from budget to first-class to deal with the risk of sneaking. I, personally, like Hampton Inn when trabveling with pest. Most love dogs. Motel 6 excepts them fvor a teeny fee, many Double Tree will accept dogs. So there's no need. Check this out: Dog, Cat & Other Pet Friendly Hotels at Petswelcome.com or Pet Friendly Hotels - Official Pet Hotels

| We recently traveled from Michigan to Tennessee with our 2. I have the type of conscience that wouldn't allow trying to sneak them in, but we chose Hampton Inn and they were fantastic. No extra charges and they loved yorkies.
