| Yippee! Finally potty trained After over three years Reesie finally has it in her head that potty is for outside, not inside where ever she can get away with it. She'll come to me and yap yap yap, so we'll play 20 questions, hungry? squeaky? (she can't find her toys sometimes), potty? play? until I get the Yorkie head cock and spin in circles. Feels great to finally have it down. My Border Collie figured it out after day2. These little furballs are stubborn, not stupid, just stubborn. Now, if I could get her to stop humping my slippers... |

| I'm definitely getting the stubborn thing from Cody. He is VERY stubborn when it comes to potty training. He does it on puppy pads which is good, but if we go outside I swear he would think I was stupid lol. Thats great that she learned! My friend has a 4 year old yorkie who still goes inside the crate. Stubborn little things aren't they. . . . . .I just can't imagine going through this for 3 years, but I guess we just have to wait and see xD |

| Good for you & Reesie! Three years is a long time, but if she is finally potty trained then it was all worth it!

| I think what did it was getting her into her harness and getting outside, watching for her to do her thing, then zoom! 'Good girl' and right back inside, even in lousy weather. Sometimes it's a chase to get the harness on her but she finally connected outside with potty. We still go out to play when it's nice or have yard work, but the quick outside-potty-inside thing is what turned her light on. |

| Hey all! Just curious, what is all of your experience with potty training - how fast do these little things usually learn? I don't have one yet, but with my last puppy (min pin) my habit was to take her outside every hour, and then slowly extend it. at night, i did the same until she could sleep through the night. I'm not a fan of puppy pads or paper - I think it just adds an extra step that you have to eliminate. I'd love to hear what you all have done, and by what age your little ones were fully house trained! Corinne |

| I need more advice on potty training! My little Mia is 8 months old, and she has absolutely ruined our carpet! We crate trained her, but she even has accidents in her crate. I take her out within 10-15 minutes of her eating and drinking, every time I get home, then pretty much every 2 hours while I am home. Still, she manages to escape under a table somewhere and do her business. I've tried positive rewards and negative rewards, but nothing seems to work! Since day one, she has been aware that I don't like it when she goes in the house (she literally "apologizes" to me every time I am cleaning up the mess with kisses). What do I do!? Her bad behavior is even reverting my husky into bad habits... |

| My Giorgie and Chanel are trained. I do not let them have the run of the house though. I started with puppy pads when I got them, but they always had accidents. When I moved into this house about 3 months ago, they have each only had about 1 accident since. I think the main difference is I have been crating them, and I have a huge fenced back yard here. I watched them like a hawk and took them out whenever they seemed to have to go. Now, they walk to the sliding glass door to go out when they have to go. I am sooooooooo glad to not have to deal with that anymore!! Chanel is 11 months, and Giorgio is 1 yr.
