Senior Yorkie Talker | ^..^ ears up help? Okay so my baby Ares is 13 weeks old, and his ears are doing the funniest thing... up, down... both up... both down... one up... one down. lol I have no clue what's going on. I read on a site that you might need to tape, cut hair... I mean he is so cute. It's like he picks days to perk up! lol I love him either way but is there something beside massaging that will work? I don't want even try to cut his hair (I'm a butcher! plus Barbie's never grew back! *sniffles*) but seriously any suggestions would help sooo much! Thanx!

| I know that when they are teething their ears can go down. I have also heard that shaving the hair on the tips of the ears, (I think you shave it in the shape of a V) helps them to stand up. |

| Joey had this problem When I picked up Joey she had just taken off the tape and his ears looked shinny but was standing, in 2 days they were down, I called her and she said to retape them. I got on the internet and followed instructions, I would leave it on for 3 days take off the tape and by the next day or two, down again. I read cottage cheese would help in giving them more of the needed nutrient so i gave him 1 teaspoon morning and night. (after learning more I would not do this again). after a month I started adding tape from one ear to another giving them more support. By the way I would take him to the groomer and have his ears shaved to keep off the weight. My family nicknamed him BLUE because I only had blue painting tape on hand. Joey was 22 weeks old before his ears finally started standing, when he would get tired his ears would still fall but by morning they would be back up. I had accepted I would have a lope eared yorkie. then we had sucess. I think you need to be dedicated to the taping and taking down the ears. Don't give up. Teething was happening at this time and it seemed once this calmed down, the ears did stand up. Wish you lots of luck. Sharon |

| Yorkie Puppies ears will do that when they are young. I would trim off any long hair and use masking tape to hold them up for a few days. Give the puppy some time. |
