| Dog in shelter over holiday! I had to leave for a few minutes this afternoon and when I came home there was a message on my machine from the local animal shelter. The lady said that a dog was there that had "returned to me". I do have a few dogs from years back that had new owners and one that went missing. The one that was missing we think was killed by other dogs near our house. This is gross but we think we found his skull later. I keep in touch with all the owners of the other dogs that I have had to give up for varies reasons but 2 (there are 4 in the last 10 years). One we got about 8 years ago. He was a Weinarimer (not sure how to spell that). My husband got him after our mixed dog Cher died of old age. I was so upset he went and financed Sampson for me! I am allergic to dogs like him (he didn't know) and after a few weeks we had to give him to a friend of ours. The other was about 2 years ago when I decided to get a small dog. I bought a black and white Shih-poo from a lady that said she had no money to pay her electric bill and had to sell her pets. It turned out that maggie was not a full bred Shih-poo (I know that is a mix but I am not supposed to be allergic to either) and I had to find her a new home too. The new owner sent me pictures for a while but then stopped. Sampson was micro chipped but Maggie was not. The shelter is closed and I can't talk to anyone until Friday afternoon. Please pray that what ever dog is there will make it till I can get there to get him/her! I wish there was something I could do now!!

| That is so sad, I take it they closed early today? I am sure that since they left you a message, things will be fine until Friday. Did you leave them a message as well stating you would be in Friday? I would go by the shelter with a letter and tape it to the door, or slide it under the door stating you will be in Friday.

| I called the animal shelter this morning and found out that the dog they found was Maggie. She is a 5 year old shih-poo that I bought from an older lady who said she could not pay her electric bill. I ended up being allergic to her and had to find her a new home. Her new owners were really nice and sent me pictures for a while. I haven't had contact with them since the summer before last. I don't have their contact info any longer. The shelter has to keep her for 5 days before they will let me adopt her. I made the mistake of telling them I didn't own her any longer. Next Thur. I can pay $66 (which I don't have) and adopt her. I will need to find her a good home after that. Anyone in the Charleston WV area interested in adopting a black and white Shih-poo? When I had her she was house trained and very loving. I had to cut her hair really short because of the mats. I went back through my pictures and found a few of her back then. Not sure what she looks like now. I am not sure if I am able to get her how long I will be able to keep her. I will not take her back to the kill shelter but I may have to find her a place in a rescue goup. If there is anyone out there who could help Maggie please let me know!

| They won't let me do anything until Thur., but I am not sure I will have the money then. Hard times right now. It is a real problem that my youngest son is allergic to her too. He could possibly have to be put in the hospital if he is around her for a long period of time. The breathing meds that he has to take sometimes is not allowed to be given at home. It is a hard decision to make even if I get the money together. There is the chance that the owner will go get her or if she stays long enough to be put out for adoption that someone will take her right away. She is really cute and smart. I don't think they get a lot of small dogs in that shelter so someone might be interested in her. I have informed them that if she is not adopted they have to call me and I will borrow the money. I know the head lady at the shelter and she is personally watching out for her. Hopefully she will be comfortable while she is there. For now I have my fingers crossed for her owner or a really nice person coming to the shelter and giving her a good home. Pray that it works out for her!! Thanks for thinking of her!

| That poor pup. I hope you can find a loving home for her ASAP so your family is not effected regarding their allergies. Is it possible to contact a s**tzu rescee for her just incase you can't find a home for her. They certainly should be able to help. |
