| Yorkie Meet Ups? I'm sure this has been asked before, so I apologize for this! My Poppy isn't used to other dogs. I get very nervous with local dog playgroups, as most of the dogs end up being larger than my little 5lb bundle of love. Plus, she doesn't realize how small she is and how easily she could get hurt, and that worries me. It's also winter now here in MA so there aren't many outdoor places for our furbabies to meet up. She plays with the cats but I feel like she should have more doggie interaction. Does anyone know of any kind of organization/website that sets up local Yorkie meet ups? Thanks!!!

Thanks....but Meedup.com is some dating site. haha MEETUP.com turned out to be a place I found two yorkie groups about twenty minutes from me. Unfortunately, the one I'd really like to join only allows Yorkies under 4lbs. Pssh. The other one has a lot less members, but I signed up for their December meet up. I'm excited. We'll see how it goes! Thanks guys!!!

| I host puppy play dates all the time. Its a hobby of mine. All dates are different. Some set a play date and drop their pup off. Others hang out with me around the pool as the pups and we make friends as they play. I just started a channel on youtube sharing some of her recent dates. I only ask that all dogs be UNDER 20 pounds (a pug is about 20 for reference). That is my only rule. UNDER 20 POUNDS. Yes, I have had to turn some away at the door. And its sad but, play dates are NOT suppose to be tense. And I will not allow mine to be. So I remove that threat initially and never back down. 22 pds? No go. A rule is a rule. Rules are implemented for reasons. No exceptions no matter how sweet anyone's 60 pd lab is... don't even wanna hear it! lol I recommend you go this route too. Large dogs often think our lil babies are cats, thus, ATTACK! This may be something you or others may want to do so I thought I would show you how I do it. I'm proactive, I make the pups come to me. Rather than me having to wait so long for a meet up to go to them. All I did was create my email: yorkiemeet@gmail.com. There is where others write me regarding setting up a date. Then I started a youtube showing other play dates so people can know a bit of what to expect. Not much to it but here's the youtube channel that people interested in dates can view and decide: YouTube - yorkieslife's Channel I intend to upload a bit from EVERY play date from now on because parents of the other pup just love the videos! But yes, I was just like you... wanting so badly to meet up with other yorkie owners. But short of me MAKING it happen, it wasnt going to. So I did. Hope you're in Florida! We'll have a date as soon as possible if you'd like. Also, feel free to use all of my ways outlined above (thats why I took the time to post). Its works very well. I have 3-5 dates a week, every week. In fact, I have a sleep-over date, as we speak, with a lil pom. I usually don't do overnight dates but this young lady needed to board her pup until she flies back into town tomorrow. I didnt want the pup being 'boarded' so offered to keep her. I hope you soon have many pups to play with. Waist deep in pups is quite lovely. Just have fun with it, I sure do! |
