| puppy Our puppy seems to like to bite and nibble at our fingers, especially my two girls (ages 6 and 9). I don't want my girls to be afraid of him, is there any hints or suggestions to try to discourage him from doing this??? I know he is only a puppy and hopefully out grows it Thanks Barry |

| I think most puppies go through this stage. I just told Keira "No bite" firmly, pulled my hands away, and stopped playing with her for a minute or so. I try to avoid playing with her with my hands, toys only. And no tug of war. Some puppies are cool with doing these things but a lot of them just want to nibble at fingers when you do it. She figured out what "No bite" meant pretty quickly and it hasn't been an issue. She's been really good with kids, but I think it really helped that she had some good experiences with kids that have dogs. They knew to pet her gently and play nicely so she thinks kids are great. Just someone else to give her attention and belly scratches. |

| Sounds like you're puppy is teething. Have you're girls hold a toy, raw hide, tug rope or something for him to chew on, that's what works for me as my little one loves fingers also....lol Best wishes and Welcome to Yorkie Talk!

| OK ..... This is a newsflash Puppies like to chew and nip If you want this to stop and not have your family transformed into one big chew toy you need to set some rules The rules are for you and your family ... not the dog When anyone .... plays with the puppy they need to have instructions that when she bites or nips THE GAME IS OVER You or your children must stop ... get up and walk away You'll be Surprised how quick the little nipper will get the message
