| Made a big decision and commitment today! Hi all, I'm so excited I thought I'd share this news with you doggy lovers, which I'm sure can relate more than anyone else. Today I finally made my decision and enrolled in a dog obedience training program, with specilialization in working with shelter dogs! The course takes about a year, but since part of it is home study, the faster you finish that part the sooner you can move on to the next stages, which are the hands-on training part and shelter work phase. I absolutely cannot wait. Hopefully I can finish and pass the theory stage as fast as possible. Obviously I'm not going to quit my dayjob just yet, or anytime soon! But as a longterm goal, I am hoping for this course to put me in a position to make a transition to a fulltime dogtraining career. This is what I have been wanting to do ALL my life. I don't know why it took me so long to make it happen. This is what I am incredibly passionate about, and think will be the most rewarding job I will ever have! Don't know why making decisions are so difficult! Sometimes you KNOW you have to make a change, you KNOW you need to move on to the next phase of your life, but for some reason you get too comfortable with your preset "unhappy" situation. Or maybe it's the fear of unknown that stops you from pusuing your dreams. Someone once told me: "Take a step, and the bridge will be there". Today I took the step, without any part of the bridge in sight! But I know it will appear when it's time. Anyways, just thought'd I'd share the excitement. Any trainers on the forum? Any pointers you can give me to succeed? Anything???? Thank you all for stopping by my post. Can't wait to start...yayyyy...yayyyyyy

| Good for You... I cannot provide you any information relating to the animal care/training field, but can certainly provide you with encouragement for taking a big step in your life that will make "you" happy. I, too, have been soul searching looking for what I want to do in the next phase of my life as well. I am in a successful career making great money, but looking for something more fulfilling that money cannot buy all the time which is "happiness". It takes courage and strength to finally figure out what you want to do and go for it. I give you a lot of credit for taking that step into the right direction. To some people, it may seem like no big deal, but often don't realize the emotions involved with such a decision. Good Luck to you and your new future. TiggerBug |

| That is awesome! That is one of my dream jobs as well! I'm currently in community college, completely unsure of what to do with my life, but I truly love dogs. I would love to own my own dog training facility/doggie daycare type place one day. I just don't know where to start!

| Thank you all for your encouraging and heart-warming posts. And yes, my services will be available to all YT members for free. Well not exactly free, you will have to send me some lucky vibes in return Will keep you all posted on my journey. I still haven't received my study material, and the wait feels like forever!!!!! Wish me luck, as I do sometimes have my doubts. As excited as I am about this upcoming change, I don't know why I wake up some days and ask myself: Should I really go for it? Am I going to succeed? Am I going to be good at it? Or am I just gonna fall flat on my face? Is it normal to have these scary doubts from time to time along the way?
