| droopy ear Why is my 5 month old yorkie's ear drooping? 2 weeks a go she was perfectly fine, had both ears up now one is down again. I have cut the hair as best as I can. I can not find a good groomer in my area so I am grooming her my self. Doing the best that I can. Any help in that area would be great too.

| Their ears can droop when they are teething. They also can droop if they have an infection in their ear (I never believed that until I was proved wrong lol), or something similar. I would not worry, at 5 months they are losing their baby teeth and getting their adult teeth.

| Thank you. I wondered about the ear infection part. She doesn't seem to be scratching it or anything. I know she is teething. She has some coming in that I can see. Thanks for your help!!

| My yorkie's ears are a little droopy right now as well and I know you can tape them if they don't pick back up - worth a shot!

| Teething, seriously? My hubby will laugh when I tell him this. We thought it was excess hair on the ears, so I clipped it yesterday and it's still drooping. Makes sense though - she's chewing on everything in the house. I'm glad I found this info. We were clueless too. |

This happened to Remy, you can see his pix in my profile. His ears were up since he was little. A few months ago his one ear started drooping for no reason, or so I thought.... (his 1 year pix shows his ear droopy). He was no longer teething as all his adult teeth were in. Turns out he had a minor ear infection, and then had some GI issues (parasites) Once he recovered and was healthy his ear perked right back up Last edited by RemydeHaviland; 11-09-2009 at 11:00 AM. | |
