| Baby on the way and a jealous puppy... I am due with our first baby January 7th. The only thing different in our house as of right now is baby clothes. But I swear Gretzky knows something is going on! Is is so attached to me!! I cannot do anything without him at my feet. He has turned into this whiney, constantly barking, and just very very needy dog! This is so out of character for him. We have not changed anything in the way we treat him or how much attention he gets, trust me he is the center of our universe. But for some reason its like he senses that life is about to change. Has anyone ever had this happen with there furbaby? And/Or does anyone have any advice they think might work? It just breaks my heart to think that he will feel left out when the baby comes home. And even now that he obviously is destressed over this. I really hope this doesn't get worse once the baby is here.....

| I was watching It's Me or the Dog and the family was getting ready to have a baby also. Victoria made the couple take on a pretend baby and handle it in the ways they would as soon as the baby arrives. The dog was apprehensive and overprotective of the mom at first, but once they worked more with the dog, it warmed up to the "baby" and it looked like it didn't take very long |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | How old is he? I imagine they can smell the changes in you, remember their noses are 1000 times more sensitive then ours. I'm a firm believer in taking walks, and I think this is so good for dogs, and gives them a sense of purpose. If the weather is not conducive to this, many home improvement stores allow you to walk the dog through the store, and a tired dog is a happy dog. You could get a stroller and practice before the baby comes, just don't put the dog in it! Congratulations!

| Going to share my experience with you. My youngest is 10 out of four children. There has not been anyone around Bells younger than six. So one day my cousin needs a babysitter I told her I could. This child was only a month old. He cried about the whole time and Bells just didnt like it at all. Bells will be one in December. When he cried, she barked and barked. After awhile I let her out and watched her very closely. She wanted to smell and lick him. She jumps up on furniture alot especially the couch to look out the window and that was my fear her jumping right on him or trying to get in my arms. She got to where she would lay on the back of the couch with her head on my shoulder. I think if you give it time everybody will get use to one another just watch closely try to include the pup when you are sitting with the baby. Good luck and congrats. |
