| Let Them Eat Dog??? I'd post a link to this outrageous article, but I have a subscription to the Wall Street Journal, and they do not have a free on line version. Anyway, there is an article in today’s Weekend section from Jonathan Safran Foer who's premise is that he believes we should eat dogs, since Americans eat so many other types of meat, including meat from animals "with significant mental capacities." He states that in other cultures such as China, some dogs are raised as meat, so why not allow this in the US? In addition to being offensive to animal lovers, and dog lovers in particular, there is a giant picture of a cute yorkie on a salad plate with an apple in its mouth (what a disgusting image)! I am sure this article is supposed to make us buy his book, which attacks farm raised animals for slaughter, but he suggests instead that we use this ready source of "locally grown" protein (society's unwanted pets) instead. Here is a link at least to an interesting opinion on his book: Rabbi David Wolpe: Eating Animals: Jonathan Safran Foer's New Book Asks Why Don't We Eat Pets? Foer makes some stupid arguments as well, arguing that since Americans eat animals such as cows, pigs, and chickens, why not dogs? Last I checked dogs (and mammals) had a more evolved brain than birds. If he’s trying to convert meat eaters into vegetarians, that’s great IMO, there are many moral reasons to eliminate or reduce the amount of meat we eat. If he is serous about us eating dogs, than he’s sick. |

| Not that I agree with this but I would like to point out that pigs are extremely intelligent.. some say even more intelligent than dogs. We don't seem to care about that.

| I dont eat pigs either for what its worth, or any mammals - and that is why. But that's not the point I was making, of course. |
