| Would another puppy be good or not? We had to put our little guy Tobie down in July not long after I had to get another Yorkie and his name is Tucker. We also have a maltese named Maggie who will be 10 years old in Dec. My problem is that Tucker will not leave Maggie alone he constantly wants to play. He waits at the door to attack her when she comes in from outside or comes upstairs from the basement. Maggie doesn't always want to play but he doesn't understand. My dh and I were talking last night that maybe we need to get another puppy but don't know if that would be a good idea or not. Any suggestions? |

| I can relate to your situation since there was a similar age difference between Squirt & Gus. I think another pup is a good idea.

| Sorry to hear about your little Tobie. We bought another yorkie puppy for our Sophie to play with when Sophie was 8 months old. Her name is Hazel and she was 7 months old at the time. We made the mistake of getting a second female close to the same age and it didn't work out so well and due to aggression issues toward Sophie we needed to re-home Hazel after a couple of months. It was very sad because we became attached to her but our first responsibility was to Sophie's safety and happiness. Hazel now is with friends in a good home so that worked out well for Hazel in the end but my advice would be not to get another yorkie of the same age and sex. It's just my opinion but it was also the advice I received her on YT from some here in the know. Jackie & mySophie Last edited by MI Yorkielover; 10-27-2009 at 06:51 AM. |

| Hi..well I can relate to having a 10 year old Yorkie. afew years ago now .and when I Iost his pal we bought another pup... At first the older dog wasn't too sure and the pup kept on teasing him etc. but actually the older dog seemed to calm him down..The odd nip etc. put the pup in his place straight away...so all was o.k. The trouble is it could be worse for your older dog...Instead of the new pup just playing with your other pup...they could end up ganging up on your older dog..and giving her more stress having to fend off 2 pups instead of one. Have you tried keeping the pup confined for a while away from your older dog..an older dog is set in its ways and just needs lots of space.!! In my opinion I wouldn't get another just now..but work o getting these 2 together with careful supervision..and keep the pup away from the other dog more..unless you can watch it. It just takes time I think...but hopefully all will be well.. Chrisann.
