| My baby boy is here & Question! First, I want to thank everyone for all their kind words over the past few days to a couple of posts I had, I really appreciate it! I finally got my baby boy today! He was delayed an hour, but he got here safe and sound and just about as cute as can be! (I will post pictures later I promise, I'm on my blackberry currently so I can't post them up just yet) He has been excellent so far, he's curled up in his bed currently, sleeping (= I do have a question if anyone can give any advice. I've noticed ever since he got off the plane he has been having this awful cough, almost like he has a hairball is the best way I can describe it. I checked inside his mouth and didn't see anything, I've been keeping an eye on it and called the vet, they said if it goes worse over night call them and they will see him tomorrow and he has an appointment Monday regardless, I was wondering if this was jet lag/stress induced or could be something worse? Thank you all so much! You are all so wonderful!

| Congratulations on your new baby. It sounds like a common case of kennel cough. But I'm not a vet and there's not much you can do if that's what it is. Poor thing~~~. If he's eating, going to the bathroom, not vomiting and everything is normal just keep him away from other pets. If it is kennel cough it's highly contagious if they are not vaccinated for it. |

You're breeder should cover the vet costs.

| I took him to the vet today, they said it was kennel cough and put him on amoxicillin, thank goodness it wasn't anything worse! I'm going to call the breeder Monday about the kennel cough and see what they say. He's sleeping on the couch currently, so cute! I couldn't figure out how to attach pictures - so here's some links to some! http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...91024-1449.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...91024-0225.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...91023-1407.jpg

| He's such a handsome little man! Congratulations!!! So glad to read that it's kennel cough. Glad you responded to it as quickly as you did. Barley had it when I got him and amoxicillin cleared it up. My other dogs had their kennel couch shots so they didn't catch it. Congrats again!!!

| He is Adorable. The kennely cough can last up to 3 weeks. Your breeder may not have known he had it. he was probably exposed to it when she took him in for his pre flight vet check. Dogs cn be exposed to it and not actually come down with it, But Stress can trigger it. So the stress of the flight might have caused him to come down with it. It is really bad this year. |
