| New Yorkie Owner I am a new YT member and a new Yorkie Owner. Have been reading the forum for about a week and decided I needed to post something and get to know some of you YT members. I have had Teddy for about two months. Teddy is a girl. She is now 5 months old. She will have her last puppy training class this weekend. I am hopeful that she will pass the tests and graduate. So far she only barks when she wants to play and doing great in all areas but the potty training. I hope to get Teddy's picture added this weekend.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Oh my gosh! They give tests????? Welcome to YT. You're going to love it here! I have a 10-month-old girl named Taffy who is a life-changing, life-energizing member of our family. Until we got her, my husband and I (no children) were stuck in the boring part of retirement. Our health doesn't really afford us the ability to volunteer and do things so we were just lumps around here until our Yorkie turned our lives upside down! She has brought sunshine back into our home and is lovingly spoiled. Surprisingly she is really well-behaved. If she had any idea how much she pulls "our" strings, she could rule this part of the world! Did you take your puppy to PetSmart classes by any chance? Our baby doesn't like treats and won't fit into the instructor's mold so we are not very big hits in class. However, she is the best at recess! |

| Welcome!!! I'm new here too?? Do you really like the puppy classes? My yorkie is seven months..and she is pretty good with training when i take the time to train her...but sometimes I feel like it takes awhile ...and I dont know if I should take her to classes to get better tips....I have a german shep at my parents house and I trained him...and he was real quick and easy...and I'm using the same techniques that I used with him...and I dont know if I should use different one for her or not... |

| Hello everyone!! I am new to the Yorkie owner world but I have had my baby for 2 weeks and I am sooooo in love. He is almost 9 weeks old and the most precious thing on this earth (besides my two children of course)!! I am just alittle confused on potty training. I am hoping for some help from all of you. I chose not to put Riley in a crate but in a bathroom that he can stay in while I am at work and at night. He does very well at using his pee pads during the day/nigh and I really felt like I had been doing a good job in the evening with watching him and getting him to his pads when he looked like he was ready to go. This morning I talked to someone and they made me feel like I was doing it all wrong and that I had to use a crate or he would never be trained well enough to not have accidents on into adulthood. I have mixed emotions about trying to put him in a crate now. Any advise?? I chose to use just pads because he is only 1 lb and I didn't want him to have to go outside in the winter being so small. |

| Good to get your replies. I still have a lot to figure out on how to use this forum to its fullest. Teddy is taking classes at PetCo and yes they have to do certain things that they have learned to get their graduation certificate. If your doggie doesn't make it, you can do another beginners class free of charge. Our instructor is excellent. I can't believe how much we have learned and how quickly Teddy has learned (except, like I said the potty thing). The class has been so much fun and it has been good for Teddy to socialize with the other dogs. The class is for only dogs under 6 months. Teddy has totally stoled my heart and added a lot to my life. She has learned sit, sit and stay, down, down and stay, drop it, leave it, loose leash walking and while you are walking them you say "wait" and they stop until you tell them its okay to "let's go", etc.
