| What's your typical week with your dog(s)? What is your dog(s) typical life all week long? I think Jackson lives a better life than ME LOL. He's got a great life and thoroughly enjoys being a dog. Jackson's typical week contains: At least 1-2 visits to the dog park(s) per week. He runs and gets all of his energy out, enjoys greeting every dog in the park and even though he's typically shy around strangers in other settings, at the dog park, he usually has no problem going up to people! He's totally in his element at the dog park. At least a 30 minute walk every day (besides these past 5 days it's been pouring rain). I live in the "country" on 3 acres, no sidewalks, so I have to drive him 5 mins up the road to a neighborhood to get a good walk. 30-45 minutes usually right before dinner. A game of fetch/tug nearly every night. It totally wears him out to fetch a toy for 10 minutes a night. I always try to play fetch before bedtime with him. A visit over at my dad's house at least once a week, in their fenced in yard and with their two small dogs (and two cats!) And lately, he's been getting a 4 mile or so walk every weekend. Sometimes more. Oh, and a bully stick once or twice a week, duh! Obviously, there's food, poop and sleep involved somewhere in there but that's the boring stuff! What's your dog's typical week?

YT 500 Club Member | Your baby does have a great life. Mine would love the walks. We have a great place to walk our baby, but to get there we have to walk up a weedy path, and when it is wet, she gets filthy. Also, there are so many other dogs up there, and sometimes dogs off leash (not legal) who have charged us. So, mine doesn't get the walks she would like. I work Mon-Fri, and Sophie loves to sleep on the pillows on the bed. I come home for lunch, let her out, and give her a treat-then go back to work. When we come home, she is usually still sleeping. She has become a rather lazy Yorkie, although she also spends anytime she can get (like right now) barking at squirrels and other intruders that come within sight. She likes to sit at the sliding door in our dining room and watch for all the critters (and humans) that wander our neighborhood.

-Couver gets 5-7 visits to the dog park/week (at least 2 hours each...). -When I am gone at school, DH stops at home for lunch to take Couver on a nice walk. -Several 10 minute walks/day (we live in an apartment, so I make sure he is out every couple hours) -Several trips around the town- to the mall, the movies, to friends houses, to lunch... everywhere I go. He travels in my purse with his head out most of the time. -A game of fetch everyday with his sock or squeaky. He loves fetch. -A bully stick or some sort of treat weekly (he had scrambled eggs this morning :P) So that is pretty much Couver's week... some weeks vary- example this week, we will be travelling to British Columbia and we will spend the weekend on a farm with three other dogs, five cats, three horses and plenty of new places for him to sniff. Couver can't wait!!

YT 500 Club Member | Alfie and Rosie get a long walk everyday, usually one hour more if I loose track of time, I just love following new trails. We live near a county park so lots of space to run in. They also get lots of play time in the house and Alfie still loves to chace the cat. As many sneaky excussions upstairs as they can fit in. They love to investigate what ever we bring home from shopping on Saturday, Used to go to my sisters on Sat' afternoon but their two are getting to be a bit too bouncy. |

| Hmm Peanut is more a "working dog" haha M-F 8am-3pm he goes to work with me. What he does at work is -lays in his bed in the sun by the window ( pictures in my album) -chews his bully sticks -runs around the wharehouse when my boss is back there - eats/drinks. pees. poop. - waits for me to "drop" a post it paper so it can grab it and run around the office and chew it up into tiny pieces so Mommy can pick it up after him. - walks with me to take the mail to the mail box. Then we come home for lunch from 12-1 eat hang out.. or I will go tan on my lunch and he will come and hang out with the front girl until I am done. Then we come home from work He will usually chew a bully or play with some toys or sleep... Until after dinner I take him on a walk. About 30 mins.. thats pretty much it for the week.. If I go anywhere he will usually come with me.. During the weekend I take him on more walks and play with him.. or we just hang out at home, go to DH'S Mom's house nothing to crazy.. He has a good life but a mellow life...

| Uni is a "working dog" as well! She comes to the shop with me everyday. She gets to play with the customers that come in (if there are any) After lunch she gets to walk with us to the little trash can and she gets a treat when we come back inside. On sundays we go to a park if it's not too late and run around a bit. After the park, then it's BATH TIME! When we get home and after she eats dinner, she stares at the front door until uncle comes home. What do you think? Pretty boring stuff!

I'm glad to read everyone else is so involved in their doggies life. Sometimes I think I'm a crazy person because nobody I know does this much with their dog. ha. But I really do think it makes for a better dog. He's my little buddy/companion always. Thanks for sharing!

My family and friends think I'm crazy because Couver comes with me (literally) everywhere except for school. I take him to the movies even. He loves to just be with me! I sometimes wish I lived his life... haha I am almost embarassed about how much I take him to the dog park, but I know it's good for him. He is the little social butterfly. I have had several offers to take him if I ever re-homed him...which I of course would never do! It is cool to change the minds of big dog owners when they realize that small dogs can be cool!

| Yes it is the BEST!! But today DH and I had to go somewhere and P couldn't come.. omg I never seen Pnut act like how he acted this morning.. I was standing waiting for dh to get off the comp and P knew we were leaving.. He started to try to climb on my leg and bark and follow me around the house... I would sit on the couch and he would follow me and sit on my lap LoL... I felt so bad to leave him!! I think I created a monster!!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Great answers! There are some healthy and happy Yorkies out there! Here's ours: * 20-minute walk twice a day * Car ride somewhere, often places that allow dogs * 15-20 minutes of obedience, agility or trick training * 10-15 minutes of brushing for Jillie, less for Eddie * Little-dog meetup Saturday * Jillie obedience class Saturday * Big dog meetup Sunday * Eddie's therapy visit to assisted living home * Misc. play time, tossing ball, etc. * 3 small meals * Tooth brushing before bed

| Remy is also a working dog Our typical day -Up by 6 /6:30 and outside for quick potty walk -Visit with his girlfriends in the building (if they are out at the same time) -At least a half hour of tug of war and fetch -Once I get ready for work we go outside for a longer walk to go potty -In the car to the office -At work he's: laying on my desk and sleeping;chasing the dogs that walk by the windows and glass front door;trying to get someone to play tug of war or fetch. We usually take 2-3 long walks during the day, as long as I am not in a suit and am able to wear comfy shoes -Home in the evening for more tug of war / fetch -And, of course the mundane stuff like eating and pooping! |
