| When is a good time to teach your baby tricks? Right now my baby is 10 mo old... He listens REALLY well. I tell him to stay he stays, I tell him to come he will come, well unless he has his nylabone keys then mama here doesn't exsist lol... I was thinking about teaching him to sit to start out. But something tells me that I should have started out WAY earlier then now? Is it to late for my Nicknack to learn a few tricks?

| i dont think is too late. We got our first yorkie at a year and a half and he didnt know any commands. My hubby taught him to sit and shake a paw etc. and he learned very quickly. I think if you try and teach them too much too young then they cant pay attention as well and get confused. But your little one is getting older and shouldnt have a problem I wouldnt think. Anyway all you can do is try and the best of luck to you |

| Never too late/never too early! Jackson knew sit, stay, come, down, high-five, roll over, shake, bang bang (play dead) by 5 months old. I think they DO learn easier as a young pup but they're definitely capable of learning at any age. I saw a video once of the oldest living Yorkie (he was in his 20's, I believe) and they taught him a few tricks that he had never done in his life! It was amazing. 10 mo. old is still very young. I'm sure Nick will pick up really fast! Here's a really good site: http://www.loveyourdog.com/tricks.html Good luck and be sure to let us know of your progress! I use little pieces of cheese to train Jackson tricks. He would do ANYTHING for cheese!

| I started with Doodlebug when he was very young~maybe 14 or 16 weeks old. He was like a sponge learning all the tricks so quickly and boy was it funny to see such a tiny little guy doing tricks! It's not too late for Nicky to learn tricks he's still just a baby. I bought a trick training book from Amazon and it gave me excellent tips on training.

| I agree with Brister. Never to late to learn. just give him treats or praise and he will pick up in no time. They are very smart. The key is being consistent! Once you start, you should continue with the word/phrase. We have ours sit when a car is coming. We're still working on it but they know they need to sit. It's gotten to where when I say, "Car coming", they look around for it. lol. Even if they don't sit when it's coming I make them sit before we move a step, then I release by saying okay. But they mostly do it. Good luck and you'll have to take some videos and post.
