| BATHTIME: How often is too often? I have had Lillie for 3 weeks coming Sunday (she's about 16 weeks old) and have given her a bath once a week (this includes her grooming trip we made last Saturday). Her bath days are on Saturday, so far but I'm wondering if its too much? I know Yorkies have sensitive skin so I don't want to dry her out but its been raining NON stop in Dallas and we go outside to potty and she gets all muddy. Also, I was feeding her some Nutri-Cal and the oils accidentally spilled on her causing her little fur to be super greasy. Her nick name this week is "Greaser" haha. I just want to make sure I'm not overdoing it with the bath time but I want her to be a clean little pup while remaining 'natural'.....any ideas/advice? |

| I also give my pups a bath every week, sometimes I wait a little bit longer. As long as you are using a quality wash they should be fine. I also make sure to check their skin and if it is a bit dry I wait a little longer between baths.

Thanks for the advice. I'm using a 100% vegan/organic shampoo/conditioner on her and it seems to be working really well. It's a little pricey but it makes her so soft and smell great! ;-) I just don't want to be drying her out too, too much. Once she goes outside, it's all over anyway. HA! What products do you use? | |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | I give Tia a bath once a month and sometimes she doesn't need that! Her coat never smells and doesn't go greasy. I'm interested to what others have to say on this one.

| i bath on Saturdays too. we take a shower together. Sadie sits on a towel at the back of the tub until i'm almost done and then i pick her up and hold her under the spray nozzle until she is wet, put her back on the towel and soap her up with natural oatmeal shampoo and then rinse her off under the sprayer again. i love Saturday baths with her, it's fun and she's hilarious in the shower because when i pick her up and hold her under the shower head she air swims like she's going to actually swim out of the wet. hahaha |

| as long as you're happy with it!! i think it all depends on how active they are outside and how you think they smell or feel. Sadie gets greasy and stinky, i have to wash her once a week and get her blankets in the wash too, they start to smell tooo..we have several rainy days here and she's an outside pottier so she gets dirty and stinky fast. |

| I wash Motley once a week, but when he was a puppy it was only about every two weeks. He is such a little boy when we are outside he has to get into EVERYTHING. My mom ownes a horse ranch and we go out there several times a week and he LOOOVVVEESSS to run and play in the grass and hayfields, so there is no way we can go longer then a week now. |

I love the idea of showering with her, I might just give that a try.
